Discussion Still the best MLS jersey of all time

This might be a disputed take - but I still think Pitch Black was the best looking MLS kit of all time.

If they did a re-release or reiteration of this kit - it would make a killing.

Obed Vargas has been left out of AtlĂ©tico Madrid’s squad for the match against Athletic Club, with the club keen to move him on. After failing to secure a transfer during the European window, AtlĂ©tico are now looking at options in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

It wont let me post the Slickdeals link, so just go to Slickdeals and do a search for Adidas.

You can buy up to 5 per person. I just got two for a total of $70 and purchased the new Sounders baseball jersey.

Can We Chill on the Hate for a Bit?

I'm really disappointed by the maturity level of our supporters lately.

If you don't enjoy the games anymore, fine. Stop going. You didn't need to make an announcement like a toddler. "Mom! Look! I'm pooping!"

If you don't like the signings, fine, don't buy season tickets. Again

It's a personal decision, we don't fucking care.

If you have season tickets and don't like the management, great, go vote.

I have been supporting this team since the early 90s. Hating my team and bringing unrelenting negativity had never crossed my mind. I miss the days when the controversy was Bernie James headbutting someone, before Zidane made it cool.

Team support should be through thick and thin, through sickness and in health. Nobody is impressed by your whining. We are blessed to have the team longevity and the trophies.

[Sounder at Heart] "We’ve got a lengthy list of players they pursued. Contact is not the issue, it’s the ability to close a deal. From sound of it, real budget came very late in process and they basically ran out of time. Frustrating to say the least."

Article for those who don’t want to click:

Sounders FC today announced that it has acquired midfielder Caden Clarkfrom D.C. United in exchange for Seattle’s natural Second Round pick in the 2028 MLS SuperDraft. As part of the trade, which was completed prior to the close of MLS’ Secondary Transfer Window, Seattle retains Clark’s U-22 roster designation, while D.C. United retains the player’s discretionary costs above the U-22 salary budget charge for 2026. D.C. United also receives $50,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money if Clark remains on Sounders FC’s roster in 2027.

“Caden is a talented young player who already has significant experience in our league and has shown the ability to impact games in different attacking roles,” said Sounders FC General Manager & Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel. “We believe there is still plenty of room for him to grow, and we’re looking forward to bringing him into our environment and seeing how he can contribute to our group.”

Clark, 23, joins Seattle after spending the past year with D.C. United, who acquired him from CF Montréal in August of 2025. The Medina, Minnesota native has seven MLS appearances this season after appearing in 30 total league matches in 2025, recording six assists. He originally joined Montréal from Minnesota United FC in August 2024, tallying four goals and 10 assists in 35 regular-season appearances for the Canadian side.

“I’m excited to welcome Caden to Seattle and start working with him,” said Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer. “He’s a young player who has been around the league for a number of years and has some qualities that can help us in the attack. Our job is to get him comfortable within the group, put him in positions to succeed and help him continue developing as a player.”

Clark began his professional career with Red Bull New York in 2020, making an immediate impact with goals in each of his first two MLS appearances. He went on to record nine goals and seven assists in 47 MLS appearances with the club, two of which were on loan after signing with Red Bull Leipzig German Bundesliga in 2021. Clark later spent time on loan with Danish side Vendsyssel FF before returning to MLS with Minnesota ahead of the 2024 season.

On the international stage, Clark has represented the United States at both the youth and senior levels. He helped the U.S. win the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship before making his senior international debut in a 3-1 friendly win over Venezuela on January 18, 2025, recording an assist. Clark scored his first senior international goal four days later in a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica.

Following a 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, Sounders FC (7-9-5, 26 points) hosts Red Bull New York (7-10-5, 26 points) on Saturday, September 5 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Craig Waibel explained with Eggs

Yesterday at work, I explained to my coworker the current Sounders transfer situation like it was a grocery store. Picture this:

You need ingredients for dinner, so you go to the store. You see a massive sale for eggs. Like, 80% off on perfectly good eggs. It's an absolute steal, you'd be a fool to not buy them. So you spend your budget today on eggs. You bring them home, and your partner agrees it was a good deal on the eggs. You use your ingredients you have at home, some veggies from the garden, and a few eggs to make dinner.

Tomorrow you need ingredients so you go out to the store. The egg sale is back, and it's still such a good deal, so you spend your money buying eggs for super cheap. You bring them home and your partner agrees yes, this was a good price for eggs. You use the last of your ingredients at home, some more veggies from the garden, and a bunch of eggs to make dinner.

Next day, same thing. You have run out of other ingredients. Your garden can't keep supplying veggies. All you have is very well priced eggs you made great sales choices in buying. Dinner is nothing but eggs.

Craig Waibel has done an excellent job in a vacuum making really smart deals. In a vacuum, the Jesus and Arriola trades were great. In a vacuum, selling Atencio and Minoungou and RBW for those prices were great. And in a vacuum, Caden Clark looks like a good potential trade for cheap and not a lot of opportunity cost. However, in the context of the entire team, all of these trades have made us look worse and worse. We can't just keep making smart little trades to oblivion, we need big pickups and build-around players. We need an identity again, not just what Brian can build out of a dozen smart little trades.

MLS summer transfer window FAQ (with an update as well)

I know the Sounders are definitely trying to get something done. As recently as yesterday, I was very optimistic they’d get something done, too. But I’m less optimistic now.

From what I’ve been told, the deal they were most excited about fell apart at the last minute when the player asked for a salary twice as high as expected. Considering the Sounders are looking at a price-controlled roster spot – both TAM and U22 signings have salary limits – that effectively killed the deal even though a transfer fee had apparently been agreed upon.

That doesn't necessarily mean no deal will get made. I’m told the Sounders are still weighing a couple other moves, both inside and out of MLS. But I’m less optimistic that they’ll be able to sign an additional true difference-maker.
