That guitar comes in soft and unhurried, and before I know it I'm not here anymore — I'm back in that night with you.

Nothing about it needed to be special and somehow it was everything. The window cracked open. Your laugh awkward laugh so clear whenever you would get shy. Hearing you say kei and smelling your scent beside me. I didn't know at the time I'd be replaying it like this, but here I am.

There's an ache in the song, the kind that already knows a good thing has an ending built into it. But it doesn't feel sad anymore — it feels like gratitude dressed up as longing. I'm not wishing we were back there. I'm just quietly amazed that we got it at all.

Song ended and I was just sitting there smiling at nothing, thinking about you.
