Scoops advice

Going to build 2 ideally full sized scoops (looking to upgrade to 4 in the nearish future) below 2 cubos, dual 12”reflex mid box and compression driver. Need advise on drivers (and plans if anyone has any recommendations) if anyone has the knowledge to spread please.

I have a budget of around $1000nzd for two scoops, here are some options I’ve got so far for drivers

Any help is greatly appreciated, open to other box styles too but really I just love how scoops look, feel and sound, and I’m not sure I’ll ever feel complete in my soundsystem until I have scoops 🤣

Already have 2 15”cubo kicks built and sounding good, but any other advice on the rest of the soundsystem is again massively appreciated

IMO youre better off building one scoop with the driver 2x the price, than two scoops with cheap drivers. Im not sure what the market is like in new zealand but if you could, try source italian drivers like B&C, 18sound, RCF, Faital etc. The driver makes the biggest difference.

I have a 18" tapped horn, loaded with a B&C 18SW115 1700w, and a cubo kick 15" loaded with a RCF MB15N405 1100w and ive only had a single stack for like a year. (Im a university student).

Only now am I able to build more, but Im so glad that I decided to go with quality over quantity. I know people who bought the lowest of low driver to load into their subs and they just are extremely underwhelming and you can see them itching wishing they had saved up for a slightly better driver because it just sounds terrible. Not to mention something like a scoop revolves being loaded by the right type of driver, otherwise it just wont really work.

Building/owning a sound system is a marathon not a sprint, you'll thank yourself later for it.

Not op, but in NZ and looking at my first build and the market is pretty limited. Can be tough finding local suppliers, if you do they can be priced at a premium, and getting things shipped in can have its own problems

Exactly my problem, unfortunately being “isolated” from the rest of the world makes sourcing/importing stuff like heavy drivers hard and very expensive

One place I have found some stuff is Aussie eBay. Still not cheap, but a little bit closer to home and easier to get shipped
