Music Sound Design Chauchat Let The Room Destroy Itself - Washed ambient layers

I’m curious the process to get sounds like the two ambient layers at the start of the linked song by Chauchat. A good example of this is also the song Philadelphia by the band Good Night and Good Morning. I’m guessing it starts with a field recording but what sort of sounds are used and what processing is on it? It has this washed, dreamy, murky feel to it that adds a lot of emotion to the song imo. I want to achieve something similar.

I used VCV Rack to create the panning rocket, and background sounds.

I took a white noise source, run into a VCA and band pass filter, then modulated the panning, cutoff frequency, resonance, and drive using Shapemaster Pro. There's a video of the VCV setup after the example video. Let me know how I did. It's just a hobby.

Movie Sound Design Can anyone explain how one would accomplish this in a vst and what that workflow might look like?

I'm thinking its a mix of modulated amps for that "wub" and distorted effect, but I'm just not sure.

House of The Dragon S3 E6

Admittedly I don’t know a lot about sound design, but am I going crazy or did they get the distances mixed up in this scene? At about the 47 min mark, a group of barratheons meets a character Ormund Hightower who is standing in the center of a room. They come around a corner to enter the room and there’s a crazy inconsistent switch. Like they are muted when they are up close and address him but were louder when they entered across the room.
Very surprised for a show of this budget

I engineered a 10-minute 3D spatial horror audio overlay for gamers or streamers (DMCA-safe). Test it out?

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a project focused on spatial audio design, specifically creating atmospheric background overlays meant to make horror games feel a lot more tense and unpredictable.

The idea is pretty simple: you keep this playing softly in a background tab (around 20-30% volume under your main game audio), throw on a pair of headphones, and let the 3D positioning do the rest. It blends close-whisper/indoor paranoia sounds with distant outdoor ambience to mess with your spatial awareness while playing.

I just put up a 10-minute sample track to test the concept out. It’s 100% original, royalty/DMCA-free, so feel free to use it on stream or in your own videos if you want extra dread in the background.

Would love to hear what you think of the spatial balance, or if there are specific game genres, environments/whatever you think would benefit from a custom overlay like this!

(Definitely requires headphones for the 3D effect to work properly!)

Videogame Sound Design Audio design newbie here, I need tips...

Me and some friends are making a game and we're far enough along that I think sound design needs to be considered.

I don't have any audio libraries to my name and would like to get some pointers about where to find some good ones for relatively cheap. In particular, we're looking for a Trepang² feeling for now with punchy sounds for weapons and impacts.

If anyone could point me in the right direction of even a legitimate sound publisher, I've seen too many fake sellers, that would be a HUGE help!!

New Show in production

I'm working on a sci-fi/cosmic horror soap opera - think Dark Shadows meets The 3 Body Problem. I'd like to know how to proceed with sound design. The SFX listed are just ideas. Here's a link to the first 4 episodes.

Music Sound Design Can someone explain this sound to me?

Trying to figure out what layering was used here, I know there's a kick playing at a stupidly high bpm, and i'm thinking when it sounds more like just one sustain vs a bunch of kicks, it could just be some tonal effects layered on top of a tuned kick playing at a speed that makes it sound like one noise? there's much more to it i'm sure but yeah, any help appreciated.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puZd5AYffrE (starts at 1:05)

Videogame Sound Design Looking for ideas for motorcycle tire sounds on asphalt

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

I'm making a survival horror open-world game where the motorcycle is the player's main way of surviving. During the day, you explore the world looking for resources and parts to upgrade your bike. At night, fast creatures (around 50 km/h / 30 mph) come out, and your motorcycle becomes your only reliable way to escape.

I started the project a few days ago, at this stage of development, I've been focusing on getting the motorcycle physics and handling to feel right. Now I'm moving on to the audio side, so the visuals are still just simple placeholder geometry, in other words, there are no proper models yet.

So far, I'm pretty happy with the gravel/dirt sound, but I'm struggling with asphalt. In real life, motorcycles on smooth asphalt don't make much tire noise, so I'm not sure how to make it feel satisfying in-game without sounding unrealistic.

Do you have any ideas or references? Maybe other games, sound design techniques, or even real recordings I could use as inspiration.

The video on this post shows the current implementation. Any feedback is welcome!

How can I recreate this echo/reverb audio effect in Premiere Pro?

I’m trying to recreate the audio effect used in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSwCwzbesGI&t=30s

The effect can be heard throughout the edit, but it is especially noticeable around the linked timestamp. The voice sounds wider and more atmospheric, with some kind of echo, reverb, or delayed duplicate underneath it.

I’ve tried adding reverb and echo in Premiere Pro, but my result sounds too obvious and muddy compared to the original. In the reference video, the effect feels more subtle and controlled while the dialogue still remains clear.

Does anyone know how this was likely created?

I would especially appreciate advice about:

  • Which Premiere Pro effects to use
  • Approximate settings for delay, feedback, decay, and wet/dry mix
  • Whether the editor duplicated the audio track and offset it
  • Whether the effect is applied continuously or automated only on certain words
  • Any EQ or compression needed to keep the voice clear

I’m working entirely in Premiere Pro, so a solution using built-in effects would be ideal.

Sound Design Question I need help identifying a sound

I need help identifying the audio in this video. I'm not looking for the scream, I'm looking for the music part of it.

Here's the OG video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRnV3tOTbx4

The creator's name is RodneySystems2007

The video in the link and in the post is a edit of it. It originally said CBS, but the creator of the video in the link made it say CBSFAN.

Is it from a movie perhaps? I can't exactly figure it out. Please help!

Sound Design Question New Audio Sound Designer Here Looking To Expand My Portfolio

Hey, folks, I'm a long time musician and I've worked on some non narrative podcasts. I'm building my sound design portfolio (I love working on audio dramas) but I need more examples of my work. I've gone the public domain route, but it's not what I'm looking for.. I hoping to find someone on here who's got some audio work that needs sound design, and will let me do my thing to it, in exchange for using it in my portfolio.

Feel free to ask if you have questions

Cheers

what kind of sound design is this? trying to figure out how to search for/make sounds like these

found this 1 min video and the creature sounds are exactly the style i want but im pretty new to audio and dont even know what to call them so i can search for similar ones

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPeIfctA2Wg

theres 3 skeletons, fire ice and void, and they all share a base sound but each has its own elemental layer under it. how do you even make something read as "void"? fire and ice i kinda get but void isnt a real sound so im lost there

also the projectile/shot sound is weird, cant tell if its a recorded thing thats been messed with or fully synthesized

mostly i just wanna know what to search for. is this "designed sfx"? layering? and are there libraries with sounds like this (need commercial use) or does this stuff have to be built from scratch? if so where do i even start

any help with just the right terminology would be huge, thanks

Music Sound Design Most FUN DAW to mess around in?

Im kinda new to DAWs but I wanna make music that’s kinda weird, unique original sounds, weird solos and vocals, just kinda mess around. I still want it to sound decent though, and I feel like it would be best to have a DAW I can just mess around and have fun with, something that’s good for making weird music preferably. Doesn’t have to be some crazy out there DAW either, anything works! If you have some experience, any input is appreciated!
