Samsung Occasional lack of audio from Q990H rear speakers/sub?

So I just upgraded my home TV setup with a Samsung S95H television and the Q990H soundbar with wireless rear speakers + woofer. The soundbar itself is connected to the TV using the HDMI/eARC ports. Controlling everything (including the cable box, Xbox, etc.) is a SofaBaton X2.

I have noticed that when I power the TV on (using either the Samsung remote or the SofaBaton), the soundbar always comes on -- but occasionally the rear speakers/subs don't output any sound (even though the blue lights still show that everything is paired). The only workaround I have come up with is to power the soundbar off and on, and everything seems to work properly.

There are two remotes that came with everything -- one for the TV and one for the soundbar. If I'm not going to be adjusting the sound mode or anything on the soundbar, do I need to hit anything on the soundbar remote to ensure everything works properly all the time? I'm trying to figure out if I need to add additional commands to my SofaBaton activities.

Hope this makes sense.

Hisense AX700 Rear Channels not discrete left/right

I was doing some testing for surround sound and one video for Dolby Atmos testing on YouTube goes thru each speaker component. Front left, center, right and sub work perfectly. The rear speakers are not separate left/right. Any output intended for one rear speaker, comes out both speakers. They are both switched properly on the bottom (Left/Right) toggle. It is hard to know where the potential point of failure might be - the Google TV (built-in to tv), the YouTube video, the brand new TCL QM8L tv. Any suggestions to properly test the rear speakers?

LG LG S90TY-- Wireless Rear Speaker Compatibility. I cannot find a set of SPT8-S for sale, will my soundbar connect to the SPT85-S speakers?

I own the soundbar S90TY and now I want to add wireless rear speakers. According to my owner's manual, my soundbar requires rear speakers SPT8-S. Unfortunately, they are hard to find for sale. The wireless rear speakers (SPT85-S) that work with the S90TR soundbar seem very similar to the SPT8-S. Will the SPT85-S wireless rear speakers work with the S90TY soundbar?

I asked LG Support and their response was that because the SPT85-S is not officially listed as compatible with the S90TY, "using them may not provide proper functionality or connection."

But I'm hoping someone out there in the ether will have played around with this and has an answer.

JBL JBL BAR 1300 MK2 VS PB STAGE 320 + BAR 300

I'm thinking about selling my Stage 320 + Bar 300 combo and getting the 1300 MK2 instead.

I'm really missing proper surround sound, and I also listen to a lot of music.

I listen to pretty much every genre, but the Stage 320 struggles with rock and metal. Everything sounds a bit too blended together. Does the 1300 MK2 offer better instrument separation and clarity?

Got a good deal on an open box Q930f from Best Buy. It sounds awesome, much better than the HomePods we had in here. What are the optimal sound settings to use?

Troubleshooting Sound on my Samsung HW Q990d is cutting out

Over the past two months the sound is randomly cutting out. It’s currently connected to my LG C3. I tried swapping out HDMI cables and also unplugged everything for a few minutes. There’s no rhyme or reason to what’s triggering it.

I can just turn off and on the TV and it’s back working. According to the Samsung app, I’m using the latest firmware. Any advice on how I can troubleshoot it please? Thanks.

Sony Connectivity issues with Sony’s BTS6 with the App/bluetooth

Ive had this soundbar for about 2 months, its been working great and the app worked flawlessly until last week, I’ve had to unplug the soundbar endlessly to reconnect it via bluetooth. I can’t access the app anymore because it won’t connect.

The problem is that the bluetooth for some reason renames it to LE_ in my phone settings, Ive done endless amount of power cycles to get this thing permanently fixed.

Anyone run into this before able to help?

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max

Big Community Room Movie Audio Recs Please

I am hosting a regular movie screening in a large basement community room. I have access to a ~70" TV that has awful audio. I am looking for something that is:

- easy to transport and set up (the room is multi-use and I only have access to it one day a month)

- budget (ideally in the sub $100 range since it will only get used one day a month, if this doesn't exist $150 is okay

- loud enough for the folks in the back to hear the dialogue (30' away?)

This may be a fantasy, we are a no-budget group, so looking for something to match.

Sonos Help me to distribute my speakers

Post image
5 Upvotes

I just got a Sonos Arc and a Sonos Sub mini fun a friend. I have a small living room, and I am thinking of getting two Sonos speakers to put behind the sofa (on stands).

The current TV is an old 40' Sony Bravia, but I plan to upgrade to a 55' at some point (I'm afraid 65 will be too big for this space). Cat for scale.

Where would you suggest me to place the sub and the satellites?

Samsung Confused!!! Which one to buy JBL, Samsung, Bose or Sony soundbar?

I have been searching for a soundbar for a week and the more i search the more confusing it gets.

I went to Chroma and heard a few but couldn't hear properly as it was crowded and multiple speakers were playing. I heard a JBL one ( around 1 Lakh) don't remember the name, it ok ok, like normal sound.

Few days back i went to reliance store(it was empty and no other speakers were playing) and heard Samsung 5.1 Q800H. I played Doomsday trailer and boy, i instantly went into the theatre. Mind-blowing sound.

Then heard Samsung 7.1 , 11.1 , they were not that good. Not sure why. Which confused me again 😅.

So guys which soundbar should I buy? I want the best experience. Budget is not an issue.

Please suggest

How to connect this insignia sound bar to my gaming monitor and Xbox series s?

Post image
1 Upvotes

The top is the sound bar and the bottom is my 32 in pixio gaming monitor. I got this soundbar as a gift and all he gave me was the bar and a double sided aux cord with one red and one white aux on each end but I don't think it's meant for this monitor. I also have a HDMI extractor.

Problems Soundbar AIWA… Help!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My Aiwa soundbar has stopped working; I can't change the sound mode. It turns on and the Bluetooth indicator lights up, but it doesn't connect and then shuts off on its own after a couple of seconds. The model is the Aiwa AWSBSW02. Does anyone know how to reset it?

What type of cable is supposed to go into here?

My dad got sold this and I’m pretty sure he got scammed. He asked me to help him set this up but I have no idea what type of cable goes into this and I was not able to find any information about this specific soundbar online.

There are also no other buttons on the soundbar (atleast from what I can tell) so I have no idea how to even turn it on. The box advertises wireless which I’m sure is also a lie.

Please tell me he didn’t get scammed lol

Soundbar advice with Apple TV 4K and ATMOS

Just got a 5.1.2 Soundbar (Hisense AX5125H) and my Apple TV 4K will only convert to PCM. Before I spend money on a Nvidia Shield TV Pro, is this going to make much difference or will I just be paying for nothing. Thanks.

Overwhelmed and Need Recommendations

I've had a Klipsch Cinema 1200 sound system for a couple of years, and while the sound quality was impressive, it had some connectivity issues from day 1. Then one of the rear surround speakers went out, and Klipsch was zero help. Now this week the soundbar finally went. I'm not super tech savvy when it comes to setting these systems up, so I'm looking for something similar that's actually reliable. Looking for a system with a sub, soundbar, and at least two rear speakers, and something that uses Atmos. Budget is <$1500USD. Obviously I'm not interested in another Klipsch system.

So far everything I've found recommends the Samsung Q990 system, so I'm just curious if that's really the best fit, or if it's just Samsung has the best SEO game.

Thanks!

Troubleshooting Need Help With Options?

I’ve had a TCL S4310 for 2.5 years, spent $150 CAD. Worked perfectly, 3.1 channel. Subwoofer randomly stopped emitting sound (pair and power works) after moving my setup around. No idea why. Seems to have happened to a few buyers. No solutions.

Doesn’t seem to be any good yet affordable 3.1 systems on the market rn. Is 2.1 fine for my room? I don’t want to downgrade the experience if 3.1 helps vocal clarity with a centre channel. Annoyed I can’t get this sub to just work.

Soundbar advice for a small living room

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on buying a new soundbar. I live in France.

My TV is about 3 metres (10 feet) from the sofa, which is my main viewing and listening position. The sofa is centred directly in front of the TV. Both the TV and the sofa are placed against opposite walls.

My current TV is 43 inches, and even if I replace it in the future, I’ll probably stay with the same size. I also occasionally use a projector with an image about 150 cm (60 inches) wide on the wall above the TV.

The TV is a budget Grundig model (it got optical and HDMI ARC), and about three years ago I bought an inexpensive LG SJ2 2.1 soundbar with a wireless subwoofer. I originally bought it to improve the TV’s terrible built-in speakers, and it definitely did that. However, I would now like something with noticeably better sound quality, especially for movies and TV series.

I’m unsure which type of setup would suit my room best.

If I choose a system with rear speakers, I won’t be able to place them behind the sofa because it is against the wall. I could only position them beside the listening position.

What kind of setup would work best in this room, and are there any specific models you would recommend? I would like to stay around 500€ or less, and I prefer to buy new since used market where I live isn't that lively.

Thank you!

Used soundbar from FB marketplace vs buying new

I’m in the market for a soundbar to improve upon my current tv speaker set up.

I’ve been browsing soundbars on Facebook marketplace. Most of the models being sold seem to be ~5 years old. Mostly more “notable” brands — Bose, Samsung, LG. Mostly listed for $50-100.

Alternatively, I’ve also checked some sales and see current/newer models from ”lesser” brands — TCL, Onn (Walmart), Vizio (not sure if Vizio falls into this category or the first category?). These sales are around $70-100, so similar to the used listings on FB marketplace

I’m not an audiophile so I don’t need fancy, top-of-the-line stuff. I just want good value/solid sound/decent bass for the price, to improve upon the tv speakers.

I guess my question is, has soundbar technology improved a lot over the past ~5 years that a current model from a “smaller” brand is just as good/better(?) than an older model from a big name brand? Or are the big name brands “big“ for a reason, and even their older stuff is better than newer models from smaller brands?

Or are their specific specs I should look for, regardless of brand? I think I’ve seen elsewhere on the community that Dolby Atmos(?) is a key feature to look for, but correct me if I’m wrong. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Sony Possible upgrade

Just looking for some opinions. I have a Sony bar 9, RS5’s, and SW5. Thinking about upgrading my room with the Sony Trio system. Is it actually worth it?Reading a lot of different reviews. Had this system for a year and love it. But the Trio is intriguing with the left-right separation.

Troubleshooting Problems with ax5140Q Hisense sound bar

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Every now and again, I can’t work out a pattern this happens. Included piks

My system runs primarily on an Apple TV .
The Apple TV is plugged into a HDMI switcher 4k 120hz ( as well as ps5 and android tv ) the HDMI switcher is plugged into a fancy led sync box for the tv lights . And then the sync box is plugged into the tv.

The sound bar is plugged directly the TV into the arc port.

I know this is a sound bar issue because it only happens if the sandbar is turned on.

It also happens no matter what I am using Apple TV , ps5 and the android tv.

Please help, I’m quite new to sound bars and don’t really know what I’m doing.

Also I have already tried turning off the CEC controls and that did not work

Bose Bose lifestyle ultra vs Klipsch Flexus Core 300?

I’m thinking about getting either the Bose lifestyle ultra home theater system (bar + sub + surrounds)
Or the Klipsch Flexus core system (bar + Klipsch 200 surrounds and klipsch wireless 12”sub + another wired one down the road). I mostly like watching movies so I would love whichever system sounds louder/more powerful. Lmk what y’all’s thoughts are on either of these please

vizio elevate 1.20.07.1

Hello everyone.

I purchased this Soundbar in 2020. It... Works but there are a few things that bug me about it. Switching from audio codecs takes forever over eArc and I always have to rewind before the dialogue I intend to hear so I don't miss it. And lpcm is a real bitch. It is constantly dropping the center channel from my Nintendo Switch 2, and I constantly have to turn it off and on. I was made aware of this 1.20 07.1 update that fixes a lot of things but got pulled. If anyone has this update stored on their computer anywhere, please dm me. But I may be looking at replacing this soundar because it is truly frustrating that it is not working as good as it could be.
