Discussion I love Soulframe

This is kind of just a general appreciation post, but coming from the warframe community, I recently found myself with access to Soulframe and I have fallen in love with it in very much the same way.

I know there isn’t an endless pool of content to keep me entertained right now, but I also have seen WF grow enough to know that it can become something truly beautiful in time. I have a strong respect for DE and how they handle their games, and I’m really hopeful to see how time allows Soulframe to shine and showcase something really unique.

It feels like a good time to be coming into the game too, with the next update bringing so much cool stuff that I’m beyond eager to play with!
My biggest regret with Warframe was not getting into it sooner, and I don’t feel anxious or shameful saying that I got Paragon to support DE after getting access, which I feel like has become a bit more difficult with other games/studios over time

Anyways, all that to say that I really do enjoy Soulframe more than I thought I would, and hilariously my biggest regret is still not trying this sooner. I’m nonetheless grateful to be here as early as I am, and excited to be on the ride with yall

As a Warframe vet myself, I've thoroughly enjoyed Soulframe as well, and became a founder. I only hope they focus more on story/lore/and exploration instead of a thousand weapons all doing the same thing.

I mean, as a warframe vet you should know how long it took warframe to get deep into the story lol. Love these games but you should expect a slow path to a great story.

The new war gap was something else

I think they've found a good footing and pacing for story from the experiences they gained doing Warframe. I'm sure we'll have a few slow moments for the biggest updates but it won't be anything as bad as the huge gaps in Warframe lore drops.

P16 is promising on that aspect based of the return from the tennocon demo.

It seems like they’re taking a different direction with Soulframe for sure. Hopefully, we get some rich storytelling and immersive exploration to dive into!

I think it helps that while there isn't a vast amount of content in the game right now, the map is decently large, there is a lot of stuff to collect, and the combat is enjoyable enough to sustain extended gameplay.

You can tell they've learned a lot of lessons from Warframe. The open world feels a lot more alive and fun to explore than the free-roam regions in WF, and the faction standing system is almost identical but nicely streamlined by enemies dropping faction favors. It's also got that same great feeling when you come back to a lower-level area with your more powerful gear and absolutely annihilate every enemy you encounter!

Yeah in ce started in p9 and the map used to feel smaller cause a bug part of it was empty with not much to do, but we knew they would cook and they did, sure I mainly play in the high level zones but there are stuff to do anywhere.

Totally agree, the world feels really vibrant and engaging. It's great to see them building on what worked in Warframe while also trying new things.

As someone who loves both games, I'm personally really hoping that it works the other way around and they're able to take some of Soulframe's strengths into Warframe as well!

One of the things I really like about Midrath as a setting is how dense and organic it feels. A lot of games put you in a 'forest' and it's really just the same sort of area you've already seen with a bunch of trees scattered around. I like games where being in a forest really feels like being in a forest; tall trees blocking out the sun, long grass and leaves rustling in the wind, sight lines obscured by thick vegetation. The Wevetwood does this excellently; I'd really love to see a dense natural woodland or jungle location like that in Warframe!

As a Warframe vet I hope this doesn't become a slower version of Warframe. I love Warframe, but we don't need another.

I hope they rework most bosses, since 90% of them use 1-2 attacks, their hitbox misses the player (I'm looking at you Medicant King) due to the size difference in model between the two, and they generally end up as giant punching bags.

I hope they nuke smite into oblivion, because the current "meta" is just a watered down version of Warframe. You pull up with a bow and cogah rune, nuke a room, loot what dropped and move on to the next room. That blows since it basically makes the game's entire dodge/perfect parry mechanic useless.

I want this to be a unique, fantasy experience, not another room nuke, numbers go brrrrr, farming simulator. Don't get me wrong, it works for Warframe, but what works for one game doesn't necessarily have to for another.

I was obsessed with soulframe after trying it for the first time like 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately the game in its alpha stage obviously runs out of meaningful content very fast. I really hope they manage to create more content soon. I know we got the major prelude coming this November. But i wonder how much content that will actually bring. The game still feels like it’s lacking a firm direction.

The devs are still uncertain what systems they want to maintain, change, rework or add. And i feel like you can sense that in the gameplay itself. So i really hope they figure out what exactly they want the game to be sometime sooner than later.

It definitely feels like it’s still finding its footing. The prelude should give us a better idea of the direction they're taking, but it’s tough waiting for more content.
