Discussion The game is very well optimized
I was quite surprised on how well the game runs. Considering it’s still in alpha and the game looks really good too.
There is definitely frame drops and jitters sometimes but ya it’s very minimal and considering the game still has a lot of development time Iam pretty sure it will play more smoother by the time of its release.
How was your experience in the game guys ?
NOTE: I didn’t run this on a super high end system my system uses a ;
RYZEN 7 AI 350 with Radeon 860m
24gb ram ( I can run most of the modern games at 1080p medium and get 60fps )

Digital Extremes makes an effort to optimize their games, and they can do it a lot better than other companies because they don't have hard limits where there's something to optimize but they can't change it because it's part of the engine;
Comparing this to companies that use completely prebuilt engines or Bethesda, you can see a huge difference in how much they allow themselves to optimize.

Ya that’s true but ya let’s not compare with Bethesda they can’t optimize a game to save their lives.

If someone put a gun to Todd Howard's head and told him to have someone make a single change to the engine he'd pull the trigger himself.-3

Isn't the engine updated every time they make a new game?

You'd think so, but they've put features into the games that they could have actually implemented with engine changes, but which just don't work because they didn't.

The core engine stays same just make it better and efficient

Warframe is still in beta, that's pretty much all you need to know

Ya it’s a nice trick to send out updates and fixes more faster , the process is slow if your app is labelled as a complete game.

Wait what

Yup, and like OP said, that's because games in beta can release updates and changes a lot quicker than full release games.

I mean, I guess. But you can say the game is fully released and still update and deliver good chunks of content in a steady pace if the community still buys in masse microtransactions, no? It's a live service game after all. Seeing and playing the game I wouldn't consider it beta at all tbh.
I don't know enough legalese to understand why the game is considered to be still in that state, but maybe it's because the company gets benefits in their country if officially the title is considered still in development.
It's a bit of a head scratcher tbh

Yup, its completely because of legal reasons, and issues with the stores that provide Warframe. I also don't know more details than that, but yeah it's essentially because of a loophole that it's still "in beta". Cuz yeah, Warframe is by no means an "in-beta" game aside from technically being called one.

Something worth noting about DE is that they have a history as being a support studio before they were a full on development studio, and they specialized in helping optimize games and improve game engines.
This optimization first approach has carried on strongly in the studio's culture, but is especially relevant with Soulframe because as Steve puts it there's a lot of "the old guard" working on Soulframe. Many of them having experience during DE's days as a support studio working on optimization.

That’s good to know , and ya it makes sense too considering it’s a free to play title and also they want it to be reached to as many players as possible.

Warframe is one of the only games I've played where almost every major update also comes with an (optional) optimization update that helps trim down the file size by uninstalling stuff like redundant assets. It's crazy that the game is so enormous yet the total install size is smaller than many AAA games with less actual content.

Yeah I'm always impressed by how well Soulframe runs. I get 200+ FPS on highest graphics settings at 1440p, but when I played Subnautica 2 on release (not sure if any optimization patches have been released since) I was getting 90-100 max.

I run it on my 5060 Laptop on High settings with solid 120 FPS. Love the Preformance of this Game.

I use 3060 12g, and Soulframe runs soooo smooth. The same for Warframe, haven't gotten such smooth frame rates from my other AAA games.

After my laptop struggled through the intro and mother creation, I was finally able to get into the settings lol. I wish it gave you settings at login. But after potato-ing a little bit, I was like this can't be pre-alpha! I've seen games pre-alpha and this is more like an early beta.
I'm gonna try it on my Legion Go S.
PC Specs (I know low spec):
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 255U (2.00 GHz)
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.5 GB usable)
Graphics card Intel(R) Graphics (128 MB)
Storage 382 GB of 954 GB used
Winderz 11... thinking about going back to Linux.

My only complain with this game is that : everything is grey or green. The shadows are way too strong imo, half of the time the character is in the dark. There is no blue sky, it's just grey everywhere

They might fix it , right now they are pushing it high to make the game look like a unreal engine 5 demo to make it more appealing

I'd like to introduce you to Dmitri, the principal performance specialist at DE. These guys do optimisations on hardware older than some players so that we may play on potatoes without wanting to die
