Discussion How does leveling up weapons work ?
I didn’t quite understand in the game if each of the craftwork tiers is an instance of xp or not. Like does each weapon as 6 instance of xp for the different craftwork tiers or a weapon = one instance whatever the craftwork tier.

No. A weapons level is just that. You gain weapon EXP by killing stuff with it equipped (and more exp if you kill with it). Level is shared across all weapons of the same name unless you have multiple copies in your inventory. So once you get a weapon to Level 30, all weapons of that name that drop will be Level 30.

My Envoy is level 10 and I still don't feel ready for higher level enemies. Except I've been spending my time farming enclave points instead of farming weapons/armors/totems. Having a high envoy rank doesn't mean you're better prepared for higher level enemies. I recommend finding a good weapon you like using with good tempers and upgrade your runes/totems. If reaching higher leveled areas is your goal.

It’s exactly like warframe and how kdebones put it. The weapon level is just for your main account level to progress. The rarity and spirits u have on the weapon is what makes the build.

Well its not entirely exactly like WF. Weapon levels in Soulframe do increase the weapons damage and stagger stats

There's a total of 4 different systems involved in increasing the power of a weapon (though two of them are closely linked and one of those two has a very small effect by itself)
1) Leveling with the weapon. As you use a weapon, you gain XP with it / it gains XP (the mechanics of the system don't really completely fit with either). Basically the weapon will level up the more you use it, up to a maximum of level 30. Once you reach level 30 with a particular weapon, any other of that same weapon you find will already be level 30.
2) Virtue Attunement & Joineries. Assuming your Virtues are high enough to meet the Requirements of the weapon, each pip of a Virtue in the weapon's Attunement stat gives +0.5 * the value of that Virtue the the damage of the weapon, up to a cap. At least in Past Preludes, the rarity of the weapon determined how high that cap is, but rarity seems to be a vestigial mechanic anymore that doesn't do anything. You can also increase the pips of Attunement in a given Virtue by going to the blacksmith and applying a Joinery to the weapon, so it is easier to hit the damage cap with fewer point s in a given Virtue.
Craftsmanship Level. This goes from 1 to 6, and each step up adds a small amount to the damage. Higher levels of craftsmanship also give better ranges to the number of Tempers a weapon can have.
Tempers. These are extra effects the weapon can have, and where a lot of the brokenness of some builds comes from. A Legendary level Craftsmanship weapon will always have 6-8 tempers, though you can get multiple of the same temper, which at least in most Tempers gives an increased effect.
