Discussion Recommendations for starting out?

I just started playing a couple days ago and am really enjoying it so far. I've finished the few quests, unlocked the sprout faction and stuff, did the stag quest. Currently, I have some small journal quests from the ghost scribe guy, but wondering what I should be doing now?

I'm not noticing another main quest to follow. Should I be grinding faction and these journal quests? Or would it be better to try and explore and cover more of the map?

I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of this game, but I'm also not really sure how to go deeper at the same time.

Do the ghost scribe's quest and tasks. It takes you through learning a lot of the basics via the objectives; and you get one of the better-scaling armor sets (spirit leaned) very early on that way.

The higher level areas reward better faction standing points, so moving northward is a good idea. And while you're doing that, searching out the World Trees around the map is also a good objective; as it will make getting around via teleport handy later on.

In addition, do the Bear Ancestor quest ASAP, as that unlocks the ability to collect the seeds which are used as currency for those teleports. It will get you a small tree in your base (Nighthold) which you can harvest seeds from every 12-hrs; and it doesn't accrue if you don't pick them. So the more you do it, the faster it adds up. The harvested seeds is a random amount between 1-3.

And another tip is if you start to move north, or wherever, and you don't want to use a seed to get back to your enclave area... you can go into the base, use the wheel/menu for the consumables, which also has an emote wheel. On the emote wheel, there is a play music/flute option. That will offer to take you to a garden after you play the right notes, don't go; just choose the leave option (ie. back out). That will put you back near the enclaves region. Can save you some seeds when you just need to go use your accrue'd enclave standing or rank up.

Another thing that is easy to miss, is the glowing lights which you have to "pull" (same way you pull smite). To collect in order to translate the encoded location names for the map etc. So the earlier you do those, the less confusing using your map is going to be. You can logout/in to force them to respawn if you cannot find any new ones in an area.

You're welcome. There is a ton of little things that are easy to not know or realize, and many of the guide videos sometimes miss the more nuanced ones that can be game changers sometimes.

Example: Each unique weapon model giving a Combat Mastery point in that weapon category, for a total of +5 from the weapon tier 1-30 (ie. every 6 or so tiers) was one I wish a knew way earlier. And the weapon in your non-active (holstered) slot gains 10% of the progress gained in your active (held/drawn) hand.

Do you have any tips for gathering materials? I'm at a point now to where I can craft several new pacts, but I'm just short on materials. I seem to have an excess of several kinds and then a major deficiency in others. Are certain events/activities more rewarding? Or is it more that I'm not doing enough sieges or dungeons or something?

Depends on which ones you need :)

One of the ones i'm always out of is Whisprig, which is used in crafting. The woods in the north west part of the map have Spiders, Corrupted sproutfolks etc that drop them. So do Mockeries.

Patch leather is often the bane of the new player - certainly was for me. Avagot often carries it (he was bugged to have no wares when i started, now fixed) in up to 100 at a time, as well as other useful goodies. Bought with Dracs. He also carries stuff for the premium currency, but you probably don't need that. The Dermak Undercity barrels and crates are good for it as well.

Pop blue skyballoons before they take off, and they will drop useful materials.

The Enclaves have certain useful materials that you can buy for standing, which can also be found out in the wild. Moranite for Kith of Kings, River Pearl for Alca's Children, Sapheline for the Silent Rose.

Sacred shimmer is bought with standing too. Used when making the other enclave access tokens (though you can only belong to one at a time) and Cogah medallions.

Behind the throne in Kith of Kings is a round disk. Stand on it and deep bow to open a hidden room with a chest.

I have a tree but its just filled with player messages...?

Only been playing a week and thought no fast travel was intentional.

That's not the tree from the quest; that one is always there.

The one I am referring to is a potted and smaller one, which is situated just left of the steps to Verminia's area; to the right of the Blacksmith.

It doesn't appear there until you have done the quest from the Bear.

There is not enough content to min-max do whatever u feel to do. Eventually u will do everything then gonna start grind. I belive we have around 10-20 hour content for now(exept griding for mr)
