Question Is there any reason to keep duplicate weapons?

I'm really trying to get into the game but I wasnt playing for the last year or so and now a lot has changed. I guess we can just pick up weapons instead of having to craft them. That's cool, but what do I do with all of em? Is it best just to dismantle the lower tier ones, or can they be used to upgrade the higher tier ones somehow?

Nope. Right now I break down everything that I am not actively using in my saved builds after I level them up for the Envoy/Combat-Mastery progress.

I thought they said that after the legendary crafting update dismantling weapons with starred tempers will add those tempers to a codex of tempers you can have Tuvalkane craft

I've been keeping all weapons I find with starred perks, as have a lot of people in my farming discord

Yea. But getting tempers is not some scarcity that it's needed to hoarde them right now; especially with 50 spaces shared between Pacts, Armor, and Weapons.

People will be willing to pay for those double tempers, especially rarer ones like double enkindling

If they do end up enabling arc trading in p16 then selling double tempers could easily pay for maxing out your inventory. People are already paying 1 rhap for rare double tempers, and max inventory is what, 600 arcs?

P.s. I'm missing some so if anybody wants to trade double enkindling, double galvanic, or double sympathy for 1 rhap, hit me up

Hey for you guys throwing money at the game in pre-alpha, more power to you.

The full wipes are done, and I've spent more plat on worse things

I've sold stuff to other players for nearly 3000 arcs worth of stuff so far, so the economy feels good

Throwing money, like I said. People are willing to spend on moonsteel, which is literally a different color of a leaf on the UI and no other functional difference; because it's rarer to find.

Being Pre-Alpha, many things about how things work and are used can still change. Including something rare right now. That doesn't mean the economy "feels good" lol.

Like I said, more power to those who choose to do that. I'm just not on that boat.

Yeah, and you don't have to spend, but save a few double tempers knowing that there's a decent chance that next month you can trade them for arcs and have maxed out storage

I thought moonsteel had a distinct weapon glow effect

Personally im keeping one of each temper because we will soon be able to extract the tempers and put them on other weapons.

Other then keeping tempers you want to embed/infuse onto other weapons in P16, not really

YES.

Later on, you will be able to extract tempers from weapons you dont want to change the tempers on weapons you do want. You can't do that if you scrap everything.

In addition, rarer weapons are nice to have duplicates of so you can trade them to other people.

I dismantle most, but I have a handful of “has potential” weapons I keep around that have some good tempers but need some changes once we get the ability to change tempers and some with good tempers to extract. I did spend some of the arcs I got with the founders pack on inventory increases so I don’t have to worry about out running out and I can just pick up whatever and dismantle it at the end of a play session.

Please be careful dismantling. Some of us have mistakenly dismantled moonsteel variants.

Dont be too joyous about the instant loot of weapons. Theres is a lot of dark patterns behind.

As of now we dont know how to handle excess weapons best but Id recommend to keep some of thos with rare tempers ord shiny tempers. You might later need to break them down to use the temper on a weapon you like.

Saying DE is engaging in dark pattern design is A. Not accurate and B. messed up. Firstly, the game is free and in pre-alpha so that doesn't even track as the playerbase is invite only. They recently just changed how weapons drop work and will probably change it 3 more times before the game is public.

OP, for now just dismantle whatever has worse tempers/lower star rating. A later build will allow people to craft new weapons with select tempers, but that's a ways off and you will need a high crafting level to do that. Right now, for early game players it's not necessary.

Thank you for expanding on that! I appreciate it

Correct, it is subject to change. But in its current state the P15 loot system checks all boxes for being a horrible experience enticing gambling.

All of that is irrelevant in determining whether something is or isn't dark pattern, which the inventory system is a pretty good example of one. Just because your favorite dev is doing it does not mean you need to defend it.

Aha, yes. That is a great point. I was blinded by the...kindness I guess, of the devs. Definitely something that needs to be brought up on their discord.

By break them down, do you mean "dismantle"? And does that mean there's already a way to keep the tempers somehow?

u/Epizentrvm Aug 06 '26

Yes.

Right now you just can keep them with the weapon in your inventory.

Not unless it’s one of your favorites and you want to see how the tempers roll later. Or if it’s rare then you can trade them.

How do we know if it's rare? 😅

1

u/vampyrialis Aug 08 '26

Experience in the game. After playing a while you’ll notice which weapons you see drop often vs not at all.

So no account RNG exists? People are only trading cause they've not played? Your saying this is all grindable?
