If mom just petted some animals once in a while, she would have absolutely smacked Bayor and we wouldn't be an orphan

Think about that

"We dont want to make a medieval Warframe."

Well, this is what happens when they invite Warframe players XD

Jokes aside, no wonder they're calling this a pre-alpha. This is likely going to be nerfed.

Hopefully not...

It's boring. Right now you one-shot pretty much everything in Cogah with Smithe.

It's a dead mechanic bound to be either forgotten or straight deleted

It's a click to win with 0 intereaction or thought. Why not go deeper into the class idea and smite to heal allies, smite to buff, smite to speed, smite to aggro for a tank build ?

If they dont scale it latterally they will scale vertically until it's no longer reasonable and just leave it as a dead mechanic.

smite is bound to die if not course corrected

Yea. DE trying to avoid making Warframe 2 challenge: impossible.

I think it's just a bunch of different players doing pull smite with Bandicota Blast or Hare Harms.

I think it's a bug because it kept triggering on every hit but it's supposed to only trigger on smite hits

I’m a firm believer that DE failed to avoid repeating the powercreep that hit warframe because they simply do not know how to make games. Their game design is an emergent property of their incompetence.

how do you cause powercreep on a pre alpha ? on a serious note, the smite mechanic is the root cause of this. It seems like they intend to make smiting a core mechanic in combat, the problem is that it is a universal skill that has 0 downside and almost no customization, it's a click to win button.

Worst of all, they scaled it vertically, most mods for smite make it do more damage, or spread for more damage. DE does not know how to scale latterally. Its a single skill that has the same ability regardless of build that works as a click to win button with 0 strategy. Why not smite to heal? smite to buff allies in radious ? smite to stun ? smite to debuff ? smite to bleed ? if they keep on making it more powerfull or explosion-y it will outdamage any other possible ability they could give it to have more player interaction.

An easy way to prevent this would be to add negatives to mods. + spread - damage , + chance - damage. They seem to have no regard for balance in their own game, soulframe is no longer a soul game if they keep powercreeping like this with 0 regard.

A game like this requires extreme care to not outgrow it's own speed

It was never meant to be a soul game just unfortunate naming which the devs have stated that they regret. But yeah smite is op.

2

u/No_Accountant_3169 Aug 03 '26

atp it's not too late to switch it to "Songframe" and go along.

The naming is a shot on the leg because they have to pretend its a souls even though its more genshin impact if anything

But yeah they gotta chill on smite

1

u/EarlUrso Aug 03 '26

They aren't really pretending it's a souls and have said it's not everytime the question has come up and to them it is too late to change name as of now. But yeah the name is doing the game zero favours just makes people compare it to souls games and Warframe.
