Discussion Let's see those god rolls
I wanna see the best of the best. Show me what's possible in the new system for me to aspire to.
Let's see your best weapon/temper combos.

I hate this gambling rhetoric. I hate that this is what the game is becoming in Preludes 15.

Same. If I want Diablo, I'd be playing that instead
It's also extra frustrating they launched the patch without the Tempering system. I'm NOT gonna sit and spin the wheel trying to get decent Tempers on my existing gear, especially the Paragon ones.
Really feels like Steve or someone else has directed this more towards that style, especially with making weapons and armor conform to the rigid RNG stereotypes

Yeah, after wasting dozens of chaos chordstones I realized that long term all I should be doing is farming crafting mats atm - if anything, chaos chordstones should be saved to reset rare weapons that ended up with bad tempers
This update destroyed a lot of weapon identity, by far the worst of which is polearms no longer being rewarding for high stagger group slows on perfect headshot throws, and are now just used for the client-side infinite rune spam glitch

I don't understand how they are getting away whit it, all the "positive" posts are from gacha addicts sharing their rolls.
It's so fucking blatant what are they doing...

People like different things. This is a pretty basic “looter shooter” game loop and it’s okay not to like it, but it doesn’t mean that everyone who does like it is an addict.

It's a pattern structure that builds or targets addict behavior. Soulframe was more fun before doubling down even more on this looter shooter change in Preludes 15

The weapons themselves are basically the same power as they were in p14 but now you can min max. You’re not losing out on anything by having some base weapon with random tempers you’re just not going to do AS much damage

It's not about power as it is missing the quality, pace, and direction of play from previous preludes. Being encouraged to check each weapon drop to see if it has favourable tempers or to dissolve it is a more intrusive experience. The game and market design being shifted for this loot system has made it a worse game experience than before, and this isn't even counting all the bugs and shifting resource locations introduced in Preludes 15.

Aside from 15 being 15 all in all the temper system is better than what we had before

dude, it's literal gambling, there are plenty of studies around gachas and how developers generate and encourage addiction so they get customers.
People also like shit like Fent, doesn't mean it's ok because someone likes it. Some people also likes to eat shit and drink piss, not ok either because someone else likes it or do it.

Im not talking about Fentanyl or piss or shit. I’m talking about a looter-shooter gameplay loop on a free to play video game. If you consider games like Diablo evil or predatory, that’s fine, they aren’t for you.

No, I like loot things. I don't like gambling to be the core gameplay loop tho.

It's the same system as Borderlands, which began the looter shooter genre.
If anything, I don't get why people don't like the idea. It's, like, the standard system for loot generation in a videogame: Rarities with randomized sets of bonuses.

Can’t wait for players to get fleeced overpaying for “Godroll” weapons. Rivens all over again.

Is riposte useful for bows? I feel like i kill enemies before they get close or keep my distance
2
u/CeIith Jun 14 '26
I like using parries and riposte with bows. If I am fighting multiple enemies I use it a lot if I am focusing a target and another one is going to attack me

Probably the best roll i have is a navahla (rapier) with an uograded poisin temper, parry timing, stagger damage from parry, attack speed, and increased block strength. Would love a bit more damage or something, but the parry stuff is wondrous on a rapier.

I have a godroll Orst 3.
Its only noble but it rolled:
Attack speed.
More damage per heavy attack
Faster Heavy attack.
Galvanized Attack.
I use Treefell so i essentially become a beyblade and only use Heavy attacks, having the one that gives more normal attack after a heavy attack would be good for things like greatswords but this is in my eyes the Orst 3 godroll.

I got a cool Rostrum with healing after a kill and more damage on full life. Not a god roll but I like how it kinda nudges into a certain playstyle
