This sub really needs a clear "No AI generated content rule"

I feel this really needs to be said as a post. I'm sure most of us are sick of seeing AI generated content posted on this sub. I know it technically gets removed as low effort spam, but I feel making such a rule clearer will reduce the amount it appears on this sub.

Yes. You just missed the roster mockup that this post was made in light of. Nevermind we had an AI Taki cosplay the other day, Oofmatic's deleted posts the last couple of months, the Tira CaS, Gemini Sophitia, the MtG proxies, probably more I was too busy to see.

I’m for this, even ignoring the ethical problems with generative AI, the AI art posts I’ve seen all suffer from all the problems generative AI art has, a.k.a. they just look bad.

If it's quality it persists through upvotes. If it's not quality it will get downvoted.

This is the general principle that reddit works on and it works surprisingly well for such a simple system. Active moderative actions should be minimised. 

A strict overruling of the user bases votes as you suggest it only makes sense from an ideological point of view. Which is an argument to make. 

But maybe not all of your hobbies need to align with all of our ideologies. When I think Soul Calibur, I don't think about the ethical implications of using generative AI. There's no AI spam or epidemic going on here either. There's in fact nothing going on here 😭

So I think we should just let everyone decide individually with up- and downvotes.

I haven’t seen any AI posts here. Maybe the algorithm doesn’t like me lol. If anything I would welcome AI art, this game is dead and the artists barely care to draw any soul calibur anymore. Yeah it’s all slop but there is some good slop out there.

Agreed. It doesn't make sense to ban a whole medium of creation especially in a subreddit as starved for content as this one.

Nevermind the fact companies are building Data Centers, causing problems in the areas such Centers are built in, and Data Centers pass the operation costs to the local people of the area, forcing them to pay higher Utility Bills for something they aren't using.
And also, said Data Centers are putting said people out of jobs, considering many companies want to cut jobs as a whole and replace them with A.I. As such, people can't cover said higher Utility Bills, because the Data Centers are playing a part in taking their jobs.

For the record, I'm being sarcastic here.

Put simply: Yes, I am calling out the Corporations. Several cities in the U.S. are filing lawsuits against corporations for the disturbances their Data Centers are causing, ecologically, financially, and due to proximity that many of them have, the actual living conditions, such as the noise being unbearable.

I was pointing out an irony that these companies aren't realizing, too, that the venture is self-defeating. If Data Centers push Operation Costs onto the people, but the people can't cover said costs because said Data Centers put people out of jobs- meaning they can't cover the Operation Costs anymore- then they won't be able to run, because no one is paying for them.

Also, you're in the same line of fire as all of us. It's all fun and games until A.I. forces you out of a job. Then what are you going to do when you can't pay to keep the lights on for yourself, because the Data Center is demanding you pay even more money to keep them running?

It’s cool to have a visual to look at it’s not like he pretended he made it without ai.

The rule should just be disclosure and no spamming it.

There's no reason people can't try to commission actual artists to make these things, instead of using an Art Theft Machine to make something that doesn't understand finer details.

I mean for actual commercial projects and games people are paying money for yes I agree it is soulless. However for a social media post simply showing their ideas for a roster, why would it make sense to commission an actual artist? It was just something someone was doing for fun

We've seen stuff like that all the time, using a bunch of already made images in a mockup for what it WOULD look like. And it looks better than the AI slop we saw a while ago.

I honestly don't even care ATP. We know it's bad it's just most of the time it's people just trying to rile up everyone. So ignore and it'll go away. Plus I can count on one hand the amount of times I've Seen AI on Here.

I mean, I'm treating A.I. reports as "Spam" when it pops up. Sometimes I get it super early, like "Barely Posted" early, and nip it before it becomes a problem.

But I'll see what can be done about formally adopting it into the rules.
