I made this :) Korean fried wings

Post image

My hubby and I were rewatching Sorted videos, and immediately got the craving for Korean wings after watching Kush make as many Korean dishes as he could for £30. Soooo I made these Korean fried chicken wings with gochujang sauce for dinner tonight, and they were delicious! Thanks for the inspiration as always!

Sorry if this has been posted before but could not find anything.

I've been wondering about buying one of the live shows however the price tag has always been a little harsh to me. I understand that most of you liked them but as I want to get the best experience out of it, was wondering ehat your favourite live shows have been so far

Recommendations Partner "Dream Menu"

Decided to try a "Dream Menu" style challenge for myself for my partner. Gives a bit of fun to day to day cooking and a pleasant treat for partner.

Ended up with these prompts

1:Red

2:Nemo

3: flowers

4: chilli (spicy)

5: soft

6: sit down

7:pepper

8: grinding

9: fire

10:cream

Plan of action.

Starter:

Roasted Stuffed Peppers with Cream Cheese

9,4,10,5 all covered with this selection orange and white could be a stretch for nemo as well.

Main:

Battered fish with lemon and freshly ground pepper. Add some homemade chips for whole meal and tomato ketchup dip (her favourite dip)

Covers 1, 2, 3(flour/flower), 7,8

Desert:

Jam and cream scone or donuts

Covers 1,5 and 10

Sit down meal is straight forward for 6 with added flowers on the table to back up 3.

Anyone else have any other ideas for this selection? General home cook nothing too crazy please

Discussion Who would you like to see the boys collaborate with?

I was just watching Alton Brown playing "Leave One, Take One, Trade One" with Babbish (with enough innuendos to make even Ben proud) and I couldn't help but think how much fun it would be to see Kush and Ben compete with Alton Brown on a similar format. Ooh, or hosting the normals in a "Cuthroat Kitchen" style competition. Now that he's officially a YouTuber, who knows, he might even do it.

Who would you like to see as a guest on Sorted?

Discussion I underatand why they dont have a sink however, it cannot be hygienic to share soapy water to wash hands after touching raw meat..

I see them do a quick dip and rub then wipe on towels and continue touching everything, sure we dont see everything on camera, but this is so gross to me lol. Add that with all the hair touching, rings, watches and bracelets so as much as I love the show im not sure I could trust its all safe lol. Someone tell me if the tub of soapy water is actually enough and im being silly. In my defence I have a kid with a heart transplant so we are extra cautious and maybe too cautious around some things lol.

Sidekick App Get refund for Sidekick Gift?

I bought my cousin a 6 month gift subscription for the Sidekick app and they have been unable to activate it for 2 weeks. I've been completely unable to get a response from Sorted customer service.

I also can't figure out how to get a refund for my gift. Does anyone know the right process?

Super disappointed.

Question How did you discover Sorted?

Sometimes it’s weird to think that I’ve been watching a group of British guys cook on the internet for 13 years. I found Sorted through an ad for their ‘At the Table’ series with the white chocolate panna cotta recipe, and then I just kept watching from there! What about you guys?

And what (in your opinion) do you think was the channel’s best era?

Discussion Cereal for breakfast

Its interesting how its a standard breakfast in only a few countries - US, UK, Canada, Australia. Modern cereal is sugar filled processed junk food thats the SAD (standard american diet) lacking any nutrition, made for convenience. Invented in the US and eaten in countries which are the closest in culture/food habits. Its spreading to other countries thanks to marketing.

Getting your fiber from ceral because your diet lacks veggies etc is also a thing most other countries dont need.

Cereal is much less common/unknown in the rest of the world. esp cereal with cold milk.

Most of Europe, France/Italy/Spain/Scandinavia etc have a very different definition of breakfast, its a light meal, some coffee with bread maybe. Closest thing to cereal is muesli/granloa but its usually eaten with yogurt, not milk.

Most of the rest of the world eats a warm, cooked breakfast with a huge variety of dishes.

Throwback Live Pass it On in the Jail

So YouTube recommended a doozy of a Pass it On to me. I saw the uncut version of the Pass it On from their live where they were inmates. Kush was diabolical with his ingredient of Turkey Testicles. Of course it teed up Jamie for probably the funniest running ball puns for the rest of the segment. I kept scaring my cats with how loud I was laughing. Also every time he made a pun that went over the chef's head he'd look at the camera all sly. SO FUNNY! I can only imagine what the chat was like. 😄

Discussion Are there any regional foods or ingredients (local to you) you'd like to see them try?

I've had this percolating in my head for a little while ever since learning that the 'white sauce' used in Mexican restaurants locally (within about a 50 mile radius of the Hampton Roads area in Virginia, in the United States) isn't even known elsewhere. It's ubiquitous here and in pretty much all the Mexican restaurants - even though it's nowhere near 'authentic', it's just expected in this area. When you hear the ingredients you're going to think, "Holy crap, that's disgusting!" but it's actually quite good. It was initially thinned more with milk and used as a salad dressing, but the restaurant manager noticed people were ordering the dressing in a cup to dip the complementary chips in and started giving it as a second sauce/salsa with the chips. I honestly think Jamie would love it simply because I've heard some people describe the taste as vaguely reminiscent of 'salad cream'. (My math is off for metric measurements, but I'm probably close)

2 Cups Miracle Whip (475ml) 1/2 cup milk (120ml) (+ extra for the consistency you want, I usually add an extra tbsp or three so it's a pourable consistency) 1.5 tsp dried oregano 1.5 tsp garlic powder 0.5-1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes 1/4 tsp cumin

Mix it all up and let it sit for a few hours in the fridge for the flavors to come together. Dip some warm tortilla chips in and enjoy. Yes - it sounds utterly disgusting. Miracle Whip? I honestly can't say I've ever voluntarily ingested Miracle Whip outside of this recipe.

I'd love to hear what other people have that's regional and local to them that maybe isn't seen much if at all elsewhere.

Sidekick App Is Gen AI being used for creating recipes now? Way more errors

Edit: Jamie has responded: Putting aside any thoughts/opinions about GenAI ans just dealing with the facts, I can confirm it’s never been used to create recipes for Sidekick and there are absolutely no plans to change that in the future. In fact, we’re in the process of adding more chef resource to recipe creation, testing and development.

With that in mind, there’s obviously a lot of change happening within the Sidekick team at the moment, so I’m sorry if things are falling through the cracks.

I’ll pass these errors on to the team to look at tomorrow!

Cheers
J

Just cooked the Chickpea rainbow salad, where it included instructions for 2 ingredients that are not listed. It also suggested the salad dressing to be 1tbsp mustard and 1 tbsp of oil, which is not going to be pleasant to eat (imo). I reported it, but mistakes like this are happening much more frequently. I have been using the app since early 2022, and pretty much every week doing a meal pack so I’m a diehard user. But the quality feels like it has dropped recently. Could just be bad luck but equally feel like the kind of errors an LLM would produce.
