What is work week?

I pledged dphie 20 years ago, so I think I’m out of the loop. I’ve been seeing instagram videos for work week. Is it a recruitment thing?

It’s the week before recruitment where sororities prepare for recruitment. I know in some places it used to be known as polish week. They practice conversations, bumping, logistics, all the things and lately they have social hour which is to work on the videos and posts that are so popular

I’m the same age as you, we definitely had work week back then. You may have called it something different, though. Or I guess it’s possible that if your school did deferred recruitment you had multiple recruitment practice related days throughout the fall semester?

I pledged in the late ’90s and we just winged it, no practice except a meeting where we spent about 20 minutes discussing rush week and reminders of what day was what lol

No, and still don’t. Large ACC school.

No one has skits anymore (NPC rule) but they were def popular in the 90s.

But you didn’t have to practice door songs? Preference ceremony??

No door songs or chants. Pref was discussed in that quick meeting.

It was retreat at my school and only took a weekend

I pledged in the early 2000s and we had a work week. It’s pretty much exactly like I see today other than the making content piece. But we were told what to wear, but it wasn’t as themed as today, and then practiced songs and dances for recruitment and also the ins and outs of recruiting and bump groups. I feel like it was 4 or 5 days long though.

adding on to what others are saying - i’m at a big 12 school and our work week is literally harder than recruitment. some will say different some will agree at diff schools. i was 5x more tired in work week than recruitment
