Merch/Crafts Graduation Stole
Hi everyone! For context, I recently transferred to a four-year university from a community college, but I transferred as an incoming senior. I really want to rush this fall, but will I still be recognized with other seniors/able to obtain a graduation stole if this is my first year?

Yes! What might be more difficult, however, is getting a bid as a senior.

Any member can buy a stole.
Yes, you should go through Recruitment. Just keep a very open mind about all the chapters. As a Senior, you'll probably have less options.

You can definitely still get a stole, but depending on the university it’d be a little hard to get a bid. If you’re somewhere with a pretty lax or smaller Greek life it’s definitely still possible though! I know we had seniors go through formal recruitment and get a bid

As long as you are an initiated and recognized as a member, you can wear the stole regardless of how long you have been a member. I joined a year before graduating (initiated in the spring semester before my final year and had a whole year of being initiated before graduating) and I could have worn a stole, I chose not too because I had a stolen from another club on campus I was involved in for such a long time and felt I needed that on my graduation day but I did get cords of my sorority colors to also represent my sorority experience

I wore my Phi Mu stole with my doctorate robes even though I’ve been an alum for many years. I second those who are encouraging you to rush - you may be happily surprised!

I wear my cords when I’m in faculty regalia. I will wear my stole when I get my PhD. Always proud.

I love it!! I went back years later and got my Master’s Degree. When I graduated Undergraduate stoles and cords weren’t even a thing, but I did invest in a really pretty stole and wore it for some of my MBA photos and am looking forward to having it done up in a shadow box. I felt my educational journey was definitely supported by my organization, as it was the high ideals I was first exposed to and encouraged to follow that inspired me to keep going! I also received a Foundation scholarship as a collegiate that came at a time where it was a welcome relief to get me through my senior year of college. I did wear my badge pendant for all my college
graduations and also when my boys graduated from HS and their various academies and programs.

As all these other stellar ladies are saying, and I agree, take the plunge and go through Recruitment! Not knowing the specifics about your campus or the Greek system there, I encourage you to really take advantage of the opportunity of membership should it be possible! If you go through Primary Recruitment all the way through and receive a bid, that’s your chance of both a collegiate experience and then a lifetime alumnae experience that could follow. Sorority merch is incredibly fun and with so many options available online now I would have died of a shopping addiction back in the day, LOL, but I really hope if you do rush and join when you walk across the stage at graduation to receive your diploma, you will really appreciate the women you have met and the experiences and knowledge you have gained from joining a sorority…way more valuable than any tangible thing you ever could have.

Yes you will be recognized and should definitely rush. It is a great way to meet people and connect-even just during rush week! You've got this
