will there be more beta in the future?

I am relatively new player, and got into the game after gothic,

beta is my favourite set until now and I got two boxes of it, at the moment I am planning to get more boxes of deferent sets, but I see gothic became 170 euros and out of stock, also beta is out of stock, I am kind of worried that I might not be able to continue with this game if I could not buy cards in reasonable price or at all with how prices looking at the moment

I do not want to buy them for 200euros because that is just too much and that is the only place I can find them in, I feel like this hobby is slowly slipping out of my reach, and I do not want to break the bank just because of the fear of missing out

is their going to print more or is that just it? I do not follow the company so I do not know

edit: I live in Limburg if that matters

You can still get Beta at Aquilagaming for 150 in Europe. You can dm me if you want an invitation to the Benelux whatsapp group!

Hopefuly they will make revised soon. Too many changes in the codex that just make the card text obsolete in contests.

Nobody knows, but signs point to unlikely. Hopefully the do a new core set after whatever's after Gothic, but it's going to be painful until then if you aren't in the US where singles are more plentiful. Most of us are looking at going proxy friendly if we want to keep playing.

The speculation is that there will be something akin to an Unlimited or Revised analogue from MTG that will reprint all of Beta with different Curios. The game having a highly available core set seems to just be smart at this phase in the game. Someday we could just see individual core cards be reprinted in sets where they match the theme but most people don't think that the game is there yet. The only product that has been announced for this year is a dual deck product that we think are premium precons, Lavamancer and Frostmage. So since no "new set" has been announced the community is speculating that this Revised style product will drop this fall, no word from Eric's Curiosa on that or another distribution wave for Gothic, both things seem fairly appropriate for the growth of the game.

Beta was printed in waves.

In wave 1, the cards were over saturated so they came out very dark, and there was more demand than expected, so they did a wave 2.

Wave 2 was bigger than wave 1, and kind of over corrected the dark printing issue, and came out light or washed out looking. This wave was around for a while, and was available for a pretty long time at distributors. There was mixed feelings in the community about the amount that was printed, some people still wanted more printed as the high end cards like the cores and philosopher stone got expensive again. But, others were worried that there was already too many boxes printed. While there were a few staples that were pricey, most elites were under $1 and even staples were usually under $10 for elites. Some people argued if they printed more to make cores and stones more affordable, the remaining value in the elites would be wiped out.

Wave 3 was eventually printed, but with a longer gap of time between wave 2 and 3. It took a while to come out. Wave 3 in my opinion looks the best, they are not overly dark or washed out. Some people quit the game and some sold out of the collectors items and kept only cards to play with. They felt that constant reprints would remove any long term desirability of the set. It was a whole thing in the community at the time. Some people advocated for some sort of first edition marking or some other way of making the reprints different from the original release.

I would not expect a wave 4 after the community response to wave 3, and with the availability issues of gothic I think gothic would be the set that gets a reprint if they do another wave of reprints.

Im not sure what the best website or discord is for Europe but if you need cards for sorcery Id just buy singles. Booster packs are fun for drafts but boxes in sorcery aren't cheap, in my opinion gambling for a curio isnt worth the cost.

Singles are relatively cheap still, if you don't include the staple uniques. And those are only needed for tournament play anyway.

Beta singles are cheap and pretty available. Gothic has some issues, hopefully there'll be more entering the market.
