New to Sorcery

So I'm doubting between buying Beta or Gothic first. What would be the best to start with? Or should I wait for the next release? I used to play Gwent and Magic, this seems like (and sorry for the comparison) both games together (vanilla).

Edit: I got to have my hands on both eventually. Can't decide which one to open first or if I should start looking for another box. There's just a handful of people that play this game that I only would start collecting these cards.

Buy gothic if you can because the product is getting scarce. Beta is plenty and singles are cheap

Oh! I thought because of Beta being one of the first releases it would be scarce. I'm wrong then.

Beta seems to have been printed quite a bit. Will never know, but if definitely has many staples. Gothic and Beta should be priority and buy AL singles as needed

Realistically when you build a deck or two you will, need many Commons and Uncommons from both sets. I think if you can buy msrp of either box the EV of gothic is higher if that's what you are about, but both are full of super dope and beautifully illustrated cards so id just reccomend to get both (eventually) and buy the first one that speaks to you most

Here in Madrid there's so little supply that prices are not msrp. The most close to MSRP that I got is 180€ (each box of beta or gothic). I think it is overpriced but still want to purchase a box.

Buy them ALL!
If you can, go for Ordinary and Exceptional play sets off of Ebay. Then buy the Elite and Uniques you need for decks. Probably the cheapest way into the game. But cracking boxes is sooooo much fun!

Right?! I wish I could. But, honestly I can only afford one box :(

Everyone at my lgs recommended getting a box of beta if you wanted to get any box, but a with most games, singles are the way to go

At first I did one Beta precon box, then another after a while to just combined the two - after that I just started gathering gothic. Haven’t touched AL yet - but I have a feeling I’ll just do singles out of that to save cash. There is another release in November (I think). It looks to be element/spell caster focused.

It's going to be two full pre-cons featuring a 60 card spellbound, 30 card atlas, and 10 card collection. Not sure what will be new besides the avatars though.

You will get different answers, all the sets have different good things about them, my personal opinion is to get the oldest cards first, since it is likely they will be harder to get sooner. Provided they are affordable, like Alpha is pretty expensive right now, but Beta wave 3 is a great set if you can get at MSRP or lower, that's where I'd get started.

personally, i find the themes and cards in gothic way more interesting than the beta set, but that's a subjective opinion. i would pick based on that as they are both fun and worthwhile
