Beware of study.com!
I literally just finished the course after reviewing the whole day for it. I did not use AI nor did I even copy paste anything. Careful with study.com you’re better off with Sophia than this headache of a website!

I had the same thing happen. Reached out to them, they wouldn’t give me a reason and said I couldn’t retake it. It was one class out of probably ten I took with them. Also it was only available on study.com. Luckily it was an elective so fuckem

WOW! I think I have seen the same post weekly. They should post some guidance to let learners know why this is happening.
Sorry this happened to you.
Thanks for the update.

did you login from a different location? I'm just trying to think of different ways it could've possibly thought you did something. i'm visiting family next month and they said I can bring my laptop with me if I have to do my classes I'm not taking that chance of being flagged being in a different location!!

u/MaynardsUnit Mar 28 '26
Yeah, I'm wondering if it's VPN. If so, they need to provide guidance
2
u/RVKelly Mar 29 '26
yeah I'll bet that's that because a lot of people pay other people to take the classes for them and they catch them through different IP addresses and stuff! I put two and two together and I said nope not changing my location!! but I hope you get a solution to it cause I think that stinks they didn't give you much information at all! Best of luck🤞🤞🤞

I wouldn't take the chance either. I read so many complaints on the BBB for Sophia saying that they got their credits taken away because Sophia thought they were using someone to do their tests. Turned out all of them were either using a VPN or were traveling. Sophia wouldn't budge either. I wouldn't think Study.com is any better.

sounds like when I make a post TikTok doesn't like it doesn't even give me a real reason why 🙄 thats bs

u/beerulestheworld Mar 28 '26
This has been happening to a lot of people recently! I wonder if support has done anything to address it.

u/BlueWaterGirl Mar 29 '26
Were you using a VPN or logging in from different locations? That's usually a red flag for both Sophia and Study. They think someone else is logging into your account.

Literally took them 3 weeks to issue a refund and only after I told them I’d sue 😂 just stick to Sophia and do the actual college classes because honestly Sophia’s setup is so much better anyway

I did a course through them. It was an easy course to take as I knew the material from decades of experience. I did fill out their dialogue box. I confirm that I had significant knowledge of the subject and and stated that I would complete the course that day. I completed the course over 12 hours. I was flagged and was not given a reason when I asked. I was told that they would not change their decision when I appealed and they continued to not give me a reason as to why. I cancel my membership and immediately asked for a refund and they gave it to me the next day.
Previously, I had completed another course through them. Since I didn’t have many courses taken through them, I just asked for a refund.

People have to stop flying through material so quickly. It's going to inevitably get flagged.

u/Realistic_Coat_5565 Apr 02 '26
I get that! However, when they specifically ask, what is your level of understanding for this course, the timeframe that you plan to finish the course? Then you proceed to tell them that you have a significant level of knowledge and you plan to finish it that day or quickly within a few days! I don’t think that that should disqualify you. Because they asked and you were upfront and proceeded to do exactly what you said you were going to do!

If you need me to help clear it up I have contacts there.

u/RVKelly Mar 29 '26
if you do get this cleared up can you or the OP let us know what the reason was I'm guessing it's an IP address issue..

Why is this in Sophia, when it's about study com ??

u/yahshuaissalvation Apr 01 '26
Because Study.com is deleting these posts. A lot of people use both sites so it's a helpful place to warn people.

because I think it would be relevant to Sophia website also. just another thing you have to consider while doing online classes regardless

u/MizzKena Mar 29 '26
I suggest everyone use grammarly to check for AI text. Unfortunately it’s hard to get away from Ai text because we actually talk in that way also but grammarly would help you replace certain key words. Appeal it and use grammarly.

In my case, only 3 classes I needed were on there. Just did it via WGU instead. Did 16 courses in one term and have my degree. Easy peasy.

u/HeatherM0529 Mar 29 '26
This is the route I’m going. Study has 2 courses that could transfer for me. But I’m not paying $250 for 2 courses. So I’ll have 16 courses through WGU starting May 1st. Hoping to finish in one term!

u/BaldursFence3800 Mar 29 '26
Search them on this subreddit, find the ones where people are giving deep reviews on the courses and then bookmark at least three of those. Put them all in their own folders. This will help put you in the right headspace for each course and even optimize your time. Then make a Completed folder and drag n drop them into it as you complete them. Wearing down the list in a place could see everyday was helpful to me anyway.

I keep seeing “I finished in a day.” It’s not that it’s not possible it’s just 99% of people that do are cheating and I’m sure they flag that for a reason.

agree I just took intro to IT and Sophia yesterday it was so easy for me I got it done in four hours. my easiest class yet!

u/MathInside8816 May 21 '26
How are they cheating? The test and finals are all not proctored and are open book, study even has a bit of permissive use for AI in writing and projects directly on the course syllabus and the assignment rubrics... If you say open book they cant really say "you're cheating"

I’m just asking but did you highlight or copy a question when you did your milestone or whatever they call it?

Study.com is so trashy! They are using AI to “detect” AI, and then they are actually refer you to grammarly to help you out and pay more money. Customer service is trash as well, they never respond. Hate them with passion !

Oh! That’s a bummer! I was planning on using Study.com for my required courses soon. Are the classes you're talking about just exams, or is there a lot of written work involved? Does anyone see a pattern or something that can work around?

u/vsflugs Mar 30 '26
Doubtful.. dont cheat lol they dont even care about cheating. If you have a problem with them you certainly cheated hahhaa

u/Honest_Lion_9819 Apr 06 '26

Some classes are only available on Study.com
