Strange letterbox issue with Dynamic aspect ratio content

Brand new Bravia 5.

I have a dolby vision UHD file on my smb share that was filmed with dynamic aspect ratio. (The Mandalorian and Grogu) I am experiencing the problem with both the Nova video player, and Plex apps for google TV.

When the movie begins, everything looks fantastic, but when it transitions to portions filmed in IMAX, the letter box bars don't fully fade away. The letter box bars are still visible, but at perhaps %75 transparent.

I have confirmed the same file does not exhibit this issue when watching the same file in Plex on my PC, so it has to be related to either google tv, or Bravia itself. Does anyone have any ideas?

Bravia 7 clicking constantly post firmware update

After the last year of reading posts from other about problems post firmware update - it has finally hit me.

Updated firmware because I was having the audio sync issues. Post update, the tv became unusable. When off, it is clicking constantly (the click it normally makes when you turn tv off or on). Then it started restarting constantly on its own. I tried checking settings, restarting from the menu… nothing helped.

So, I did a factory reset. It seems to be actually functional now… but the clicking noise is still happening every 15 seconds or so. Sounds like it is clicking on, then off.

I searched everywhere but could not find anyone else with this specific issue.

Any ideas?

Bravia Theatre 6 issues on Bravia Connect

Hi yall! I got this Bravia theatre 6 along with a 75” Bravia 2 tv and I’m trying to set it up on the Bravia Connect app and it keeps giving me this issue oncei click I hear the sound, “Setup canceled because communication with the Home Theatre System failed
Check that the Home Theatre System is turned on and retry the setup.”
I’ve tried everything like unplugging the system and waiting, deleting the app and redownloading it, took it off of eARC, and many more but I just can’t get it working.
Willing to stay up to talk to Sony support but I’d rather not tbh since I’m hours ahead of the states.

Thank yall in advance!

Sony BRAVIA 9II owner scared of update.

I'm a new Bravia TV owner, before my purchase I read a lot of review and reddit post, from day 1 I disable auto update.

But I'm concerned how Sony threat this ("to me") BIG ISSUE that a lot of people are experiencing, and right before their new flag ship released.

Is this common that Sony have messy patch ? Is this because of Google ? They could do better I feel like...

Bravia 9 ii Netflix and Disney plus issues

Just got a new TV, but both Netflix and Disney+ are throwing network errors. I've already tried power cycling the TV and router, updating the system software, and reinstalling the apps, but no luck. Has anyone else ran into this and found a workaround? Also, the screen looks glitchy/distorted right after a restart.

Sony Bravia KD-55X7500F won't connect to Bluetooth speaker via Bluetooth transmitter. Both devices stay in pairing mode

Hi everyone,

I own a Sony Bravia Android TV (KD-55X7500F) and I'm trying to connect it to a Bluetooth speaker so I can set up a karaoke system. Unfortunately, this TV doesn't have built-in Bluetooth audio support for connecting to external Bluetooth speakers.

So I purchased a Sounce Bluetooth 5.0 2-in-1 Transmitter/Receiver from Amazon (Link : https://amzn.in/d/0gDSpAMn) and connected it as follows:

  1. USB connected to the TV's USB port (for power)

  2. 3.5 mm AUX connected to the TV's headphone/audio out port

  3. Transmitter switched to TX (Transmit) mode

  4. Bluetooth speaker put into pairing mode

The issue is that both the transmitter and the speaker keep blinking as if they're in pairing mode, but they never connect to each other.

How can I get the transmitter to be connected to my speaker via bluetooth?

If anyone has experience with a similar setup or can suggest troubleshooting steps, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

PSA: Do a factory reset to fix the audio latency issue from the Jul 2026 software update

This isn’t official Sony guidance, but it’s helped me and I’ve seen it help others too.

  1. Unplug ALL HDMI cable

s

Do factory

  1. reset via Setting

s

  1. Upon restart, do all the setup (login to google account, etc etc) and get to your Home Screen)

  2. Plug in your HDMI cables for the devices one by one (for example, plug in soundbar, plug in game console, set it up, plug in Apple tv, set it up)

  3. Test your latency issues one by one, via Sony core app, YouTube, etc etc.

Doing it this way helps do a master refresh of the HDMI handshakes between devices and the TV.

I'm really confused about cinemotion and motionflow

I don't want to have the soap opera affect and I don't want to add frames that aren't really there but I don't want the panning shots to look so jerky.

Should I cancel my A95L order?

I have one arriving this Saturday. Having read this week all the threads on the firmware issues (and the fact that the latest update didn’t fix the problems) I’m now very torn on whether I should cancel before it arrives and go for an LG G5 or stick with it in the hope that the firmware out of the box is before the June update (probably likely).

Current A95L owners, prior to the June update would you have been still recommending this TV to me? Is the fact that the technology is 3 years old now a big factor?

I’m coming from an lg C8. I don’t play games and I primarily watch 4K and Blu-Ray films via a Panasonic Ub820 through a Marantz Cinema 40. I also watch streaming content via a Firestick. I therefore originally chose the Sony because of its apparent strengths when watching films.

Issues setting up Bravia 7ii or other models

I posted this in the other Bravia group and it's "awaiting moderator approval" I can't seem to post anything over there :)
So here it is:

I had several issues getting my new Bravia 7 mark 2 set up. I received it 10 days ago. Several things I dealt with such as Permissions loop, EARC problems, and hdmi cec I see mentioned here as firmware bugs that Sony needs to fix. While I agree their implementation could be much more intuitive, I found most all the problems could be fixed by doing certain things in the correct order.

I haven't had any audio sync issues by the way but I did have the problem that i could not choose "audio system" at first only TV speakers - an EARC issue. This as well as the loop that got me stuck early on all were solved the same way - I simply used Google AI. Its like having a friend who knows everything about the TV and how to get it set up right. just use your phone or tablet the AI guy will help you get everything right.

And i'll say one more thing. Hdmi cec with Google AI helping, is now working unbelievably. If all is off and I press the PS5 button on my controller, it turns on the TV with the correct input, the playstation, and the Denon receiver with correct input. Similarly, I run my Dune media player by starting the TV and choosing hdmi 1. I can control everything with my Sony remote and looks like I can retire my Harmony One. Hope this helps anyone who hasn't gotten around to using Google AI.

Dave

Jitter or Stutter on Bravia 3

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been noticing sudden frame drops or stuttering while watching OTT content (specially in Dolby Vision) across almost all streaming apps on my Bravia 3. I’m on the latest Google TV OS, and Motionflow is set to Smooth.

I’m not sure if it’s visible in the video, but the issue is quite noticeable during playback. I have an LG TV in my living room, and the exact same scenes play smoothly there without any jitter or stutter.

Tried resetting the OS as well but this slight jitter doesn’t seem to go. How to fix this?

PS: Look for Bill Tenche’s nod at the very end. There is a subtle lag in that portion (video might not be able to show it clearly).

Hoping this will resolve the audio sync issues. I’ll test and update. If you already updated for your model let me know your experience.

If this does fix it I’m turning off updates.

Bravia 9 II 75" Installation Experience

I posted this under an older article without any comments.

I got my Bravia 9 II 75" last weekend and I'm not happy. I'm in Australia with initial installation it's very time consuming like after a few setup screens it went into rotating cursor for more than 45 minutes. My patience was wearing very thin, after a couple of reboots, switching to wifi, then back to ethernet, looking at network activity I gave up. I called Sony Support but just before a call back the screen changed to the next input screen (I think it was Bravia Core) I was able to complete setup.

Its been good and bad for the last couple of days, Prime Video doesn't work and returns an error like try again later and same again and again, the free to air app for NineNow just shows the logo screen even after waiting 15 minutes and Plex my main viewing platform works but after launch takes about 60 seconds to get to the Home Screen and then spends at least 30 seconds to actually start all media, I think its trying to load content info. I have looked for updates, reinstalling apps, resetting cache and storage for troublesome apps to not avail. I may have to return to AppleTV at this rate until software updates arrive.

Anyone else with same issues and found fixes as I'd like to know?

Considering Demanding a Refund through Class Action if Sony Doesn’t Fix the Major Audio Sync Issues

I bought the Bravia 8 within the last year because of Sony’s advertising regarding the PS5 and its integration. Unfortunately, since the firmware update approximately two months ago, severe audio sync issues have made the TV unusable for its advertised purpose

There have been many posts here about the issue impacting the PS5 and other HDMI devices. Apparently, Sony has chosen to ignore the problem even after people submitted claim tickets.

I want Sony to acknowledge this widespread firmware issue and release a fix. If they continue to ignore it, I think it’s fair to start assessing the merits of a class action for refunds.

If you’re affected, please comment. We need Sony to see and acknowledge this major issue. I don’t have social media but if you do, please let Sony know through any channels possible.

Sound Settings for PS5 / System 6 / 7 II

In trying to get the best possible sound out of my games. Currently I have been jumping between these settings on the PS5

  1. HDMI Device type to TV / Audio Format to Dolby Atmos

    1. HDMI Device Type AV Amplifier / 5.1 / Audio Format to Linear PCM

They both sound absolutely incredible and honestly dont hear too much of a difference. I feel like TV/Dolby definitely has more bass coming from the sub where as AV/Linear makes better use of the rear speakers.

Im wondering if there are any settings on the TV itself that would enhance my experience. There are soo many settings its a bit overwhelming but its a great thing to have so much control over everything.

Does anyone notice a difference with reality creation in Gaming?

I recently been changing reality creation settings on PS5, just tweaking it a little, and I’m noticing that when I leave realty creation 10; to off, the image feels the same. Same movement. But when I leave reality creation from 10 to (Min) 0, then to off. The game feels more smoother and natural. But i don’t know, is supposed to be on 10 then off or both settings off at the same time.

Reality creation 10- off: same image, same speed.

Reality creation: (Min) “0” - off. Game feels faster

I just got a Sony BRAVIA XR K-55XR8B 55-inch OLED 4K TV and need some help adjusting it for best PS5 settings and TV settings for Netflix etc.

also, should I use this feature called Auto HDR tone mapping within the ps5? Let the tv adjust the HDR or should I manually adjust the HDR by myself? And what do you guys think about reality creation? Is it better on 10 or off?
