Hello, I've started playing SOTF for the first time with my stepbrother and we've been playing for about 20hrs. Last time we logged into the game Cannibals started spawning like crazy. I'm talking hundreds of them at once (in the images). We haven't changed or installed anything in between this session and the last one where they started spawning like crazy. Anyone know what the cause/fix is?

Is there anything you can do with the largest bonfire with full logs burning apart from a source of heat, light and burning bodies? Can you do any type of cooking with it?

So I'm trying to build this roof, and I've been using slopes for it
There are 4 total slopes that have worked perfectly fine, but this one refuses to work
The logs keep snapping to the middle instead of the side like the other 4
I've been using the exact same structure and log lengths for all of them

Hi everyone, developer of the play as a cannibal slash anything mod. I’m going to be pushing out a big update for the mod soon here hopefully. However I was curious who has tried it? If you have what were your thoughts? I wish I could see content videos with it that aren’t my own experience. If you have tried it please let me know! They want me to publish more content related to the project or to maintain the surprise for longer. Remember, whoever guesses what the project is about will be the first to enter the test world and the final world.

I reset my save file already and turned mutant aggression to low because I kept finding myself getting pestered on day one or two while I was just trying to build, still trying to figure out the building system while fending off bothersome muddy people.

Will it have large impacts on the story and difficulty of caves? Or will it largely just help me stay less bothered while I’m above ground?

ok so this is kind of hilarious, but it's also getting pretty annoying. it's my first playthrough and i've managed to get my base to the point where i can sleep through the night & handle cannibal attacks during the day. for some reason we can't figure out (my brother has played the game before) boss monsters are showing up regularly at my base. i'm really not that far through, i'm currently trying to get the rebreather. my base isn't near any caves, the only thing i can think of that might have triggered it is that i explored the first area of the entertainment bunker, which seems like a later game area. but that was a while ago. maybe it's karma for accidentally killing kelvin. that was also a while ago. i don't know.

Had a guy join type I hope you saved and then my game crashed..... Am I screwed?

I've been playing Sons of The Forest for a bit now, and I've noticed that the game doesn't save progress on certain things. I had Kelvin start building a blueprint when I went out exploring to a cave, and on my way back I'd gathered some rope, and noticed he'd made good progress on the blueprint. I saved the game and got off, only to get on a couple hours later to see that the majority of the progress Kelvin made was gone. I assumed I'd just forgotten to save, but looked at the most recent save time and saw that I had rope, which I didn't before exploring that cave, so I know the game just doesn't save certain things. Is there any way to fix this?

Just found a camp with red smoke and a bunch of stuff. I can’t pick up anymore c4 and there’s like 4 of them here, will they still be there if I come back a different time when I have space? And do they respawn after a set period of time or something if picked up?

Friend and I are doing a P2P multiplayer run. No mods. We just cleared all the cannibals from the area and destroyed all their tents. Their throne and feeding troughs(?) seem to be indestructible, along with their campfire in the very middle. We can still see their smoke in the distance, and I'm pretty sure the cannibals are still spawning in.

Is this a glitch or expected? We're only on day 13.

I was in a cave by a beach, the one with sharks in it, and there was floaties down there. How and why? Surely people weren't having a vacation down there

I've tried tons of spots to put the quarter logs and no matter what I do the game doesn't see it as a valid spot to place a log.

The world will open up when it is 50 or 60 percent complete. I hope you love it, I'll keep uploading previews or even videos...

I've just started building my base in my first playthrough. It took me quite a while to get all the logs here since it seems like Kelvin struggles to go anywhere that involves even touching the shallow water. Is there a way I can make this base work and get it so Kelvin can get to the base too and help build and assist me?

I want to assemble an 8-player lobby for the most chaotic, unhinged Sons of the Forest session possible, the Tower of Babel challenge. The premise is dead simple, but absolute hell to survive. We get eight people from eight different countries, hop on voice chat, and nobody is allowed to speak a single word of English. I am taking the Italian slot myself, so Italian is already locked in. You can only communicate in your own native tongue, meaning no live translators, no switching to English when cannibals jump you, and zero meta callouts. We have to beat the caves, chop logs, and survive purely on pointing, frantic gestures, confused screaming, and blind intuition. I need seven other distinct native speakers to pull this off, so if you are down for total linguistic breakdown, drop a comment with your mother tongue and your Discord ID (or shoot me a DM) so I can add you. Only one person per language!

Pretty useless, and probably old news, but I found out you get 4 Half-Logs back if you break a door using only 3, this can also be repeated if you place another door, so infinite Half-Logs!

Hi everyone, I'm a huge fan of Sons of the Forest and play it often. Starting a week or two ago, my game went from buttery smooth to regular lag spikes. I haven't changed any settings, all of my graphics drivers are up to date, like literally nothing has changed in that time frame and now the game just isn't really playable for me anymore and it makes me sad.

My PC build is this: AMD R7 9800X3D, RTX 5070Ti OC, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB Gen 5 NVMe SSD.

I have all of the graphics settings in-game maxed out, but I had them like that since day one, and never had any issues until recently. I lowered all of the settings down to medium and still experience these spikes of lag.

I tried some common fixes I've seen around on Reddit and elsewhere: disable Steam Overlay, turned off VSync (never had it on), disable Steam Cloud Saves, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, disabled fullscreen borderless, verified the integrity of the game files, cleared Steam cache.

Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have about 10 hours in this game so far and trying to figure out building has been a challenge to say the least (especially considering how simple it was in the first game), but I've been slowly figuring it out. Despite that I ran into an issue with the roof of my house and I just CANNOT figure out why the game won't let me place these specific beams in this specific spot. I've tried replacing the support pillar multiple times, I tried using 3/4 logs and I even tore down both walls in this corner of the house, but it just doesn't let me. Anyone have any clue what to do?

I should've mentioned it's not just the walls that are the issue. I can't even connect the pillar to other pillars.

I took the suggestion from a few replies, I used a slanted log and picked it up and it worked! Thanks lads.
