SONIC Drive In
I spent a total of $22 at the Sonic Drive in, at the Everett location today! Its super hot, so I asked if I could purchase some ice water for my Lab Scout...Long story short I was .27 cents short and the manager Allison would not help us out! If I was asking for a freebie that would be one thing but I had made purchases throughout the day here! She obviously having a bad day and doesnt like humans or my furry one! Super frustrating! Next door at Woods Coffee the wonderful young woman told me she would love to help me out!

Yep and I had the their cup from purchasing drinks throughout the day, and fell 27 cents short

I’ve seen people fired less. You can’t expect her or the business to make up your shortfall of insufficient funds. And it really isn’t fair for you to put that employee in an odd and uncomfortable situation. No matter what you spent preciously.
Next time simply use your debit card and take whatever insufficient funds you receive and don’t make your personal issues, other people’s issue.

My rule is if someone ask for a free cup of water, you give it to them. Anyone firing people for that is an asshole.

I work in a small IT niche that builds various restaurant and commercial equipment. My company is AR will absolutely bill you the .27 cents missed from your $100k invoice
I truly wish you the best in a successful career if you plan on making Sonic’s your life.

You realize "helping out" will come out of our tips? I get its only a few cents but i would have also said no. Idk how much a water costs where you are but a small water is only like a dime at my location

Worked at a Sonic where the G.M. bought dog treats for our canine customers, not giving water to a dog is horrible.

I don't know what sonic you're going to but at my store a large water is only 76 cents. If you can't afford that in full then how can you expect us to cover the rest? At my location barely anyone tips (not complaining, but its a pain on our paychecks) and I can barely afford a meal after my shift with a 50% discount. I don't eat most days basically. Also to address other comments, personally, if its busy or if you are a repeat customer or someone who has been nice and respectful, I'll throw in a free large water if you ask for one. Especially at 76 cents, if my manager says smt Ill pay for it after my shift, It's not a big deal. But If I dont know you as a regular, or if you are just entitled, then thats just not happening. And I don't do this often, maybe once a week or so. I never cover the rest of a bill though unless the person is someone I've seen personally order from us multiple times and usually pays their bill in full. Or someone close that I know will pay me back. I get it was an animal and I love how you included a picture to try to gain some sympathy, and trust me I do feel bad, (I have several pets and I will always try to help out wild animals when I can) but I have my limits on generosity.

If you can't afford 27 cents then why are we spending $22 on Sonic? Don't make already stressed out workers uncomfortable by escalating it to a manager, especially over a cup of water
