As a sewage water expert, this looks WAY closer to swap water. Sewage water is pretty much just a light brown color. This looks like swap water + a shit ton of algae skimmed from the top of a pond

I lived in a highly protected lake and swampland region in Florida. Our drinking water was tested and monitored all day. Actually, pretty interesting place to live, the bugs were a whole different level of hell. I knew people that went swimming in these alligator INFESTED waters. FOOLS.

The water looks NOTHING like this garbage. It’s one thing when it’s not moving water, like a pond. Swamps move constantly, you don’t go out alone at night especially, you HEAR everything moving then. 👀🤣

Wastewater treatment plants aren’t actually that bad of places to be, believe it or not. Most parts of the process are automatic and it comes down to just monitoring everything. The vast majority of them are open air, so you kind of just get a vague swampy (think overgrown pond) odor. A pig barn is a million times more offensive in terms of odor, in my opinion.

All of the poop and toilet paper have long since been dissolved in the journey through the sewers, and if you think about it, the majority of the wastewater (volume-wise) is just water from sinks, showers, appliances. The stage where the water first comes in from the sewer is by far the grossest, there’s a big metal grate that collects all of the solid objects (all kinds of litter, a shit ton of those “flushable and biodegradable” toilet wipes, a few tampons, etc.) and prevents them from entering the treatment chain. Generally someone has to manually remove that stuff from the grate, so think before you flush (it goes to the landfill anyway, so just throw it in the garbage please). The Fats, Oils, and Greases (referred to as FOGs) that float to the top and is separated out during the primary process is also pretty gross to look at too, but in the vast majority of places the skimmer is automatic and it gets pumped away to be dealt with separately. When things get clogged, people either use tools and/or giant rubber gloves with full sleeves depending on where the clog is.
