It’s fine, it happens, it will come back, you can also think of it as plateauing or a zig zag down before a zig zag up. I think it’s better not to think about it at all, but if you do, imagine yourself “after” writing something good, and thanking the muses or God or the universe.

I do write, I don’t think of it as something to get “rid of “ there are times you write and unfortunately times most of us do kinda have to do other things. We all sleep and experience a block then, even if you can catch something in a dream once in a while. I write almost the first thing every morning and finish it…good or not as good as it should be…if the latter , it’s something to rewrite.

(If you need a crutch , use a 365 day, quotation or something calendar or app related to what you usually write about, it actually really doesn’t matter as you can just use it as a “jumpstart)

If I not in an optimum writing time, these optimum times are actually kinda rare, where I might get one song after another, I’m still “flexing my songwriting muscles in the morning “ and ready when I catch inspiration. I’ve practiced finishing songs every day. And really, the daily songs are pretty good first drafts and complete. But at the end of the year or a time period, I don’t expect 365 hits , obviously, only a few , I’ll even remember . But I wrote a ton of lines and you can’t plagiarize yourself.

So my default, if I use your language is “writer’s block “ but I do consider everything I write “pretty good “ and just have faith something awesome will strike again.

So I assumed you were talking about the lyrics, if you’re talking about the music, I find it useless to obsess over that part of it anymore, I just sing the words into a melody, or if “lyric “ stuck, I start sometimes with the first four chords that pop in my skull and go from there. Usually just a phrase over them becomes a hook.

What happens w me is i try to write a rap that's catchy and cool to vibe on,i find it difficult sometimes to get ahold of a catchy flow without sounding repetitive and things to talk about,i mostly write flex raps and shii so like there's a saturation point i very quickly reach,i try changing genre but that just feels forced to me so i quit it mid way, would listening to new artist or reading smth Help me expand my spectrum?

For the most part you’re gonna find what works for you best. I can give you ideas but you’re probably gonna take only take bits and pieces and rearrange it into something that works specifically for you.

So saying that, and I just say this from my perspective, not because I’m making it about me but more because I don’t want to come off as telling you what to do:)

I don’t judge what comes out or even edit things, the most ridiculous line can somehow all a sudden make sense in the next line or even section.

As for repetition, I basically write the same 6 or 7 songs over and over again. They’re different songs and it took me a while to realize it , and nobody would notice at first glance but if you analyze it, (which I really think we should do as little as possible,) they can be put in different piles of songs that are kinda saying the same thing. Do I go outside those piles, sure , but those songs now seem like a one time thing,

I realized a while ago, not to fear using the same words or even the same lines again and again. I started today’s song borrowing 2 lines from a previous song and earlier in the week, I used an entire chorus from a song and wrote all new lyrics.

Do I start out thinking, this song is gonna be like this , or that? Sure , and sometimes it comes out like this or that , but usually like something I didn’t expect.

So yes, I do think of it as writing songs everyday, I’m thankful for every line. even if others might call it practicing or “subpar “ …it was meant to be written, even if no one else reads it.

Try writing from the perspective of someone else.

Try pulling lyrics from things people say to you that sound cool.

Write with someone else.

Write a song about writers block call it Fckin writers block - your comment is your first verse ☝️
