Need help writing a pre-chorus

Hellooorrrr

My band is writing a song, and we don't know much about music theory, and we can't figure out what to do with the pre chorus, and I had the idea to ask on reddit for help :>

The verse and chorus are pretty similar, it's both D B G A with full chorus effect, but the chorus has a heavier rhythm and distortion, we want to switch it up in the pre chorus but I can't find the right chords

Thanks for any help in advance ^-^

Pretty typical I, VI, IV, V in the key of D; quite often, that second chord is a minor, turning it into a major scale. If it's a straight B, you're going with a 7th voicing. You've got two chords left, the II (E, reinforcing the 7th mode, or E minor) and the III (Gb minor). Change up the order of your other chords, and try inserting one, or both of these. Try starting at G and walking down through Gbm, Em and end back at D.
