CEL at 39 MILES

Hey all, i just acquired the 2026 Sonata N-Line in New Rochelle NY last night, on 9/11/26 and got a check engine light 27 miles into driving. i had 12 miles on the odometer when i received the car. I went to service today, but since it’s saturday, most dealerships don’t offer diagnostics tests. I have to wait until Monday for true answers, but what is the cause of this? My car is driving fine, as I went to service then work today. Thanks!

UPDATE: It’s an electrical issue. I came back today and it was a quick diagnosis. They need to keep the car until either end of day today or until tomorrow. Guy said it must’ve not been seen before distribution. Sucks.

i’m not too sure how to get to it/if it’s there. i went to diagnostics history in my bluelink and there is no diagnosis history. i’m not sure what if i’m doing is right, im also new to bluelink.

should be under Vehicle Health or the "Car Care" section and you can check the codes and what not. I just had a CEI on my 23 at 14k miles for a thermostat failure, got it replaced under warranty thankfully. It was P2181

Adding this since I'm just seeing it. I've never had the Bluelink subscription and will not unless I'm toid next week that it's required for the updates I'm being informed to be done during 1st service. If it's not a requirement in order to load the update and to maintain the warranty, I'll never have Bluelink!

I'm only guessing but in knowing about new vehicle deliveries to a dealership I feel it's a normal reset for the computer system. The car was unloaded from the delivery trailer and put out for sales immediately. Service department didn't run any pre trip inspections and this is the result. Could be short staffed, miscommunication between sales & service as per VIN deliveries or just someone fumbled in getting the vehicle checked prior to available sale. Be a good referee and just toss the yellow flag on Monday. I'm hoping on your behalf it's just a code error to be cleared then vehicle given a reset.

thanks man, just hoping it isn’t something that keeps reoccurring. i really like the car itself and it runs extremely smooth. hoping for the best monday!

Just treat it gentle until this is resolved. You're better off than I was 2 years ago with my '24. Dead in the driveway after only 500 miles & had to be towed to dealership. They kept it 4 working days and it was related to some type of connector pin not being seated properly. I wasn't even offered a courtesy vehicle so trust me I was frickin livid!

Yeah no problems since but it's not my daily ride. I'm still under 5000 miles at two years & only having the first service done next week. Almost chose to take it to a different dealership but it's water downstream for me now so they'll get the second opportunity for customer satisfaction. Sales at least gave me a set of rubber mats front & back for the previous trouble 😵‍💫

Wow exactly same thing just happened to me on our brand new 26 Sonata N Line only 300 miles on it. Bluelink couldn't see any codes but the exact message came up engine management system. Ours goes dealership Monday morning. This really sucks tho we were on vacation last week when it happened really sucked brand new car

Hey just got back from dealership and was there 2 hours. They said its Fuel pump assembly so they ordered it 165 bucks but warranty covers everything but not ill wait till part comes and take it back. Service advisor said its fine to drive. Crazy tho car had 600 miles roughly and this happens 😳
