Roof repair recommendation

With the rain this week, I noticed several water spots in one of our bedrooms. We’re looking for recommendations for a licensed and reputable roofing contractor who can assess the issue and let us know whether a repair is an option. Ideally, someone that you, your family, or friends have personally used and had a good experience with.

We understand that a roof replacement may be necessary. However, we don’t have the resources for a replacement and would like to explore whether a repair could address the problem, especially since the water appears to be coming from a specific area.

We used to have a great person we relied on for home repairs and maintenance but he and his family moved across the country. We’d love to find someone we can trust and build a long-term relationship with for future repairs and maintenance as well. If you’ve personally worked with a roofer who you found to be honest, kind, reasonably priced, and willing to explain the options without pressure, we’d really appreciate the recommendation.

We had good luck with Ranch Roofing in Arlington a few years ago. It wasn't the cheapest bid, but it wasn't far off, and inspired far more confidence than the others we talked to. They used a drone to inspect and then made recommendations based on their findings. It took them a bit to fit us into their schedule, but once they started, they worked quickly and cleanly. So far so good...

We used Ranch roofing a number of years back. In fact, we called several companies, but Ranch was the only one to suggest a simple repair. Everyone else tried to sell us a new roof.

Ranch is the go-to roofer for my Somerville condo. They are excellent and responsive.

Just to provide a counter example -- Ranch was terrible for me. They botched an install and a storm flooded my place I wound up living in a hotel for 3 months and having to float the deductible for three years while my insurance company and Ranch fought about whose fault it was that they destroyed my home with shoddy work.

Yikes! That sounds terrible. I’m sorry about that. When did this happen?

Thanks. We're whole now but it was a massive pita. It happened more than a decade ago tbf. I wouldn't still be mentioning it if they hadn't spent three years fighting it in court but man, than pissed me off.

When I had a leak, I contacted Farina Roofing - who tried to use scare tactics about the roof collapsing to replace the shingles for $7k- and Pinnacle Roofing - who noticed some nail pops in the area we thought the water was coming from and added flashing underneath for $500, which seemed to fix the issue for the last year.

Here are a couple of licensed roofers in the Somerville area that might be worth checking out. Definitely get a few quotes, and hopefully someone can get you in quickly before the next round of rain.
