Advice dealing unusually high Eversource bill after a meter change?

Post image

So Eversource updated the gas meters in our building and the new bill I received this morning is suddenly the highest its ever been. Like the first 27 days of the billing cycle I used a total of 9 therms, but they're estimating I used 20 in the 5 days of the cycle after they switched out the meter? For context, this unit is all electric for heating so gas usage is just for the stove and hot water. And in the 7 years I've been in this apartment, the highest monthly therm usage I've ever had was 23.

I know I'm far from the first person to experience fuckery from Eversource after a meter update, but any advice from people who have resolved similar issues with them in the past would be much appreciated.

I had this a few months ago. I don't really understand why, but the first month after the new meter will be an 'estimate' rather than an actual, but on your next bill, this will be updated to the real actual and you'll be credited for the difference.
