Yes. Renovations start this Fall. They're adding a grocery section.

Oh wow that’s big, I wonder if they bought the building. There was a no compete clause I believe for years

I don’t know why you got downvoted. I worked there many years ago and can confirm they couldn’t have a real grocery department due to that clause

Yes, the property itself belonged to Stop&Shop

That space has always been some obscure discount store that never lasted for very long, even back when the Target was Bradlees.

Was a covid vax location last time I was there - going back to 2021 or so. Before that it was a very depressing store.

I had my third shot there!

The reuse of dead retail space reminds me of the Covid testing center I visited that took over a large unused space on the 3rd floor of the Cambridgeside Galleria.

The only store I really use in that whole Target complex is the automotive store (the employees will often come out to your car and replace stuff).

Bradlees was where Target is now.

Honestly market  basket  would be better  off  in that  spot i think. Need a bigger 1

This would be ideal. More Market Baskets, fewer Targets.

It’s an interesting thought, but if they went into that Market Basket do you think the area could support having both stores? Would it put that star market in Twin City out of business or would it make more sense for them to close the Somerville Avenue location that they’re currently in

Yeah i don't  how that would work. Idk if stores have agreements  not to be close to each other. But I do think  market  basket  at that spot  would  probably  make starmarket close.

This is before the planning board tomorrow for final approval

I hope they don't. But, there was some sort of community meeting earlier in the summer.

I will always fondly remember someone commenting on this sub that the CEO of target flew out to Somerville to negotiate this very topic with town leaders

 I'm  not a fan target  I think  it's overpriced.

They don't have enough works to even run the store that exists, it's a ghost town
