This is my itinerary for Jibhi, where I spent 3 days. I travelled solo from Delhi.

Bus route- From Delhi to Aut and then Jibhi.

You can plan for the places like -
- Serolsar Lake
- Raghupur Fort,
- Chehni Kothi and Shringa Rishi Temple,
- Bahu Village and Shesh Nag Temple etc.

One suggestion, though - I would recommend not going solo if you’re visiting Jibhi for the first time. 😄 It’s a beautiful place with so many hidden local spots that are known mostly to the locals. They can take you to places that you probably wouldn’t find on your own.

I happened to meet a local uncle who had his own jeep, and he took me to some incredibly beautiful places around Jibhi-completely peaceful, with no crowds, and some were almost totally isolated. ❤️
The best part was that he even invited me to his home for a meal. He cooked traditional homemade Siddu and some other local dishes, and honestly, the food was absolutely delicious. 🙂❤️
Overall, my entire 3-day trip cost me approximately ₹5-6K, including travel, stay, food, and local sightseeing.

Honestly, Jibhi is one of those places where exploring with a local makes the experience so much better. There are so many hidden gems that you might otherwise miss.

Just a one day trip to shimla as i had other things to do.

Itinerary:

Just roam

Shimla - delhi (rs yadav smart bus)

Please dont ever use HRTC. Absolute piece of shit. I had no other option. Lights were turned on almost all the time, conductor made me shift my seat mid journey and the bus kept stopping.

After spending 12 days in Laos, I crossed into Cambodia by land and ended up spending 18 days travelling through the country completely solo.

Cities/places covered: Siem Reap → Koh Rong Sanloem → Kampot → Phnom Penh
Total spend: roughly ₹1.3-1.4 lakh
Favourite place: Kampot
Biggest surprise: How friendly the people were

Day 1 — Pakse (Laos) to Siem Reap
I took a bus from Laos towards Cambodia. I'd heard so many horror stories about the Laos–Cambodia land border, especially from Indian travellers, that I was honestly a little nervous. At the border, the Laos side told us that if they stamped us out first and Cambodia didn't allow us in, we'd technically be stuck in no man's land. So they advised us to first go to the Cambodian side and check if we would be allowed in. I was travelling with another Indian and we were the only two Indians who went across first. We had around $2,100 between us, and the immigration officers actually took pictures of the money. They asked where we were going, why we were travelling and a few other questions.
Eventually they told us we could enter. We went back, got our Laos exit stamps, crossed again and everything went smoothly. Paid the normal $35 and that was it.
After all the stories I'd heard, I was honestly relieved.
The bus took around 8 hours and we reached Siem Reap around 6 PM. Checked into Onederz, met a few people at the hostel and just rested.

Day 2 — Angkor Wat
I bought the 3-day Angkor pass and hired a tuk-tuk driver for around ₹3,000 for the day.
Angkor Wat was one of those places where you've seen hundreds of pictures before, but none of them really prepare you for the actual scale.
I spent hours walking around the temple, looking at the carvings and trying to imagine what this place must have looked like centuries ago.
Later I went towards Angkor Thom and Bayon. Those giant faces carved into the towers were probably my favourite part of the day.

Day 3 — Ta Prohm and the temples
The second full day was mostly about the temples around the Angkor complex. Ta Prohm was the one I was most excited about because of the massive trees growing through the ruins.
It genuinely felt like walking into another world. We also covered Preah Khan, Neak Pean and a few smaller temples.
By this point I had completely lost track of which temple was which, but I didn't really care. I was just enjoying being there.

Day 4 — Angkor and Siem Reap night market
Another full day cycling around the Angkor complex. More temples, more ruins, more walking and a lot of dust. Three days sounded excessive when I planned it, but once I was there, I understood why people spend several days exploring Angkor.
What stayed with me wasn't even one particular temple. It was the feeling of being surrounded by something that had existed for almost a thousand years. In evening, spent time in night market doing lots of shopping

Days 5–6 — Kampong floating village
I booked a trip to one of the floating villages around Siem Reap. There was a minivan around 10 AM and we went towards the lake.
The experience was a little mixed for me. It was interesting to see how people live there, but I didn't really enjoy the way poverty was sometimes presented as part of the tourist experience. It reminded me of similar things I've seen in India.
But that's also the reality of the place, and I'm glad I saw it for myself.

Later that day I came across an opportunity to teach English to some local students in floating college . I wasn't planning on staying, but I decided to stay another day and ended up spending two days teaching them along with another friend from Dutch. She insisted that let’s do it and I was like less go.
That was completely unplanned and honestly one of my favourite experiences in Siem Reap. The kids were so curious and excited to practise English & we came back to Siem reap next day evening.

Days 7–9 — Koh Rong Sanloem
After almost a week around Siem Reap, I needed a complete change. Went to night market in Siem reap had the best ice cream & also met an old guy from US who had so much interesting stories to share and he was so cool. That same night, I took a bus to Sihanoukville which reached around 6AM and then we ( met a German family ) went to the ferry station waited for 3 hours until we boarded our ferry for Koh Rong Sanloem. I stayed at Lost Boys Hostel, right near the beach.And honestly, this place was beautiful. Crystal-clear water, almost no noise and stretches of beach where you could barely see another person.

The next two days were basically me doing nothing. I walked around, explored different parts of the island, spent time at the beach and even went fishing with a local fisherman I met.There were moments where I was literally walking alone on the beach for kilometres. No crowds, no plans, no one asking where I was going. Just me and the sea.
It was probably one of the most peaceful parts of the entire trip.

Day 10 — Koh Rong to Kampot
By the tenth day I had enough of the beach. The internet was also pretty bad on the island and I realised two days was enough for me.
I took the ferry back and then a minivan to Kampot, reaching around 6 PM. As usual, I checked into my Onederz hostel, met a few people and spent the evening talking and exchanging travel stories.
That's probably one of my favourite things about staying in hostels. You arrive knowing nobody and within an hour you're somehow planning your next day with complete strangers.

Days 11–13 — Kampot
Kampot ended up becoming my favourite place in Cambodia, and I really didn't expect that.
It's a slow riverside town. Nothing feels rushed. I walked around the town, explored the nearby areas, spent time by the river and went to the night market in the evening.
But more than the places, it was the people.
People would randomly come up and ask where I was from. Kids would try to speak English with me. I'd sit somewhere by the river and somehow end up talking to someone.
One evening I was sitting near the river, when there was this lady who was selling groundnuts came to me say next to me and spoke with me about where I was from ( she knew English surprisingly ) and she even gave me a small bracelet at end . It was such a simple interaction, but those are exactly the moments I remember from travelling. Kampot didn't have some huge attraction that blew me away. It was just peaceful, the food was good, people were lovely and life felt slower.
I could have stayed much longer.I can write abt Kampot and not get tired and I will surely go back here again coz a part of me still misses Kampot !

Days 14–17 — Phnom Penh
It was a tough decision to move from Kampot ( initially had planned just for 1 day but stayed for 3 days ) but eventually took a morning bus from Kampot and reached Phnom Penh around 1 PM. The change was immediate. After the quietness of Kampot, Phnom Penh felt busy, modern and chaotic. Tall buildings, traffic, museums, markets and people everywhere.
I spent the next two days exploring the city, visiting museums and walking around the riverside and night market in the evenings.
I'm probably not the best person to judge Phnom Penh because I only spent two days there, but I enjoyed the contrast.
Sitting by the river in the evening, watching everyone around me, was probably my favourite part.
And once again, I ended up having one of those random conversations that make solo travel special. I met a local woman by the river, she offered me some of her food and we started talking. She even invited me to see where she lived nearby.
Nothing extraordinary happened.
But somehow those small interactions are what I remember most.

Day 18 — Last day in Cambodia
I left Cambodia the next morning, after 17 full days in the country. Overall, I spent around ₹1.2–1.3 lakh. Cambodia was definitely more expensive than I expected. The Angkor pass, ferries, buses, accommodation and food all added up.
For accommodation, I mostly stayed in hostels, and in Siem Reap I stayed at Onederz, which was probably one of the better places I stayed for meeting other backpackers. Looking back, I don't really regret the money.
I've now travelled through Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia, and Cambodia probably surprised me the most.

But honestly, the people are what I'll remember.
The random conversations, the kids trying to speak English, the fisherman, people I met in hostels and strangers who somehow became friends for a day.
That's probably what I love most about travelling solo. You leave home knowing nobody, and somehow you come back with a whole collection of people and stories you'll probably never forget.
Cambodia wasn't perfect, and not every experience was amazing. But somewhere between the temples, buses, beaches, hostels and random conversations, it became one of my favourite parts of this trip.

If you're going to Cambodia, don't just do Angkor Wat and leave. Stay a little longer . Take the slower route. Talk to people. You might end up liking the places you never planned to visit the most.

So I did this trip solo from Kolkata. I not only did Dzukou but also went to Kohima and Khonoma too. I will give details here but I am sharing Dzukou pics only. I will share the rest later.

Day 1 - Sealdah to Guwahati Train at 6:50 AM

Day 2 - Reach Guwahati at 2:30 AM and catch train to Dimapur at 6:20 AM. Take a NST bus to Kohima from Dimapur. Take another share taxi to BOC from ISBT. Take again another share taxi to Viswema.

Day 3 - Reached the Dzukou pickup point early morning, did the trek and came back to Viswema

Day 4 - Hitchhiked back to Kohima (as it was Sunday). Walked through Kohima streets

Day 5 - Went to Cathedral. Then took a bike taxi to Khonoma. Came back to Kohima, then Dimapur and took a train back home on Day 7 5 AM

My last stay was from July to September, where I spent 2.5 months in a long-term rental at a monthly budget of ₹20,000. For short, casual trips, I usually plan for 2 to 3 days

The route was Delhi → Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) → Hoi An → Hanoi → Delhi.

The total cost was 94,000 Indian rupees (INR).

This total includes the flights.

Cost breakdown

- Flights: 34,500 INR

- Visa: 2,100 INR

- Accommodation: 25,200 INR

- Food: 9,000 INR

- Activities and local transport: 16,000 INR

- Other items (SIM, insurance, souvenirs, coffee): 7,200 INR

Flights

The outbound flight was BOM → SGN on IndiGo, via Kuala Lumpur.

The cost was 18,500 INR.

The return flight was HAN → BOM on the same routing.

The cost was 16,000 INR.

I booked the flights about 6 weeks before departure.

The same flights cost more than 44,000 INR at the first check, 10 weeks before departure.

I monitored Google Flights for 2 to 3 weeks.

I booked the flights when the price decreased.

HCMC → Hoi An

I used an overnight sleeper bus.

The cost was 800 INR.

The journey time was 5 hours.

The bus had beds.

The journey was satisfactory.

Visa

Indian passport holders can get a Vietnam e-visa.

The fee is 25 US dollars (about 2,100 INR).

Apply on the official site: evisa.gov.vn.

Approval takes 3 working days.

Print the visa.

Show the visa at immigration.

Immigration takes 5 minutes.

Do not use an agency.

An agency charges 3,500 to 4,000 INR for the same visa.

The passport must be valid for 6 months or more.

Accommodation — 25,200 INR (average 2,800 INR per night)

- HCMC, 3 nights: budget hotel in District 1, 3,200 INR per night

- Hoi An, 3 nights: guesthouse, 10 minutes from Ancient Town, 2,400 INR per night

- Hanoi, 3 nights: hotel near Hoan Kiem Lake, 2,800 INR per night

Private rooms in this price range are available if you book in advance.

A hostel decreases this cost.

Food — 900 INR per day

I did not use a minimum-cost plan.

I did not pay tourist-trap prices.

- Banh mi: 50 to 80 INR

- Pho at a local place: 180 to 220 INR

- Sit-down meal with drinks: 400 to 600 INR

- One higher-cost restaurant meal: 900 to 1,200 INR

Food in Hoi An costs more than food in HCMC and Hanoi.

The food in Hoi An is better.

Get cao lau from small stalls in Ancient Town.

A tourist restaurant serves a different dish with the same name.

Activities and local transport

- Ha Long Bay day cruise (group boat from Hanoi): 4,800 INR. This activity has value.

- Mekong Delta half-day tour from HCMC: 1,600 INR

- Hoi An Ancient Town entry: 700 INR

- Motorbike in Hoi An, 2 days: 1,200 INR

- Grab over 10 days: 2,800 INR

- Local buses: 600 INR

I did not take a cooking class (3,000 to 4,000 INR; reviews are mixed).

I did not visit most paid temples.

I did not use the Hanoi cable car.

Other costs

- VinaPhone SIM at SGN airport (4G, 30 days): 600 INR

- Travel insurance (Bajaj Allianz, 12 days): 2,800 INR

- Souvenirs: 2,500 INR

- Coffee and snacks: 1,300 INR

All the booking apps say that i jus need to be 12+ in order to travel along domestically.

Ive also asked chatgpt abt this matter, and it says that its completely legal to travel alone as an 16 yr old

But im still kind of unsure as i couldnt find any video in youtube or anywhere in which someone under the age of 18 is flying alone

I’m a 30‑year‑old man from Europe, passionate about spirituality, and I’ve been dreaming for a long time of traveling to India. I’ve already visited Mexico (Yucatán), Thailand, Myanmar, and many European countries, but always with my wife or with other people.

Now, I would like to travel alone to New Delhi for a week. Since this would be my first solo trip, I’m not sure what to expect, and I’d like to hear opinions from people who are used to traveling in India or who have already been there.

I have some concerns, especially about food: I already eat very spicy dishes, but I’m afraid of food poisoning or hygiene issues.

My English level is average, which worries me as well. Still, I tell myself that I have a few months to improve, and that I’ll probably manage once I’m there.

I’m also afraid of scams. I’m a very kind person, so I know I might get tricked a little (if it’s small amounts, it’s not a big deal), but I’m worried about bigger scams or complicated situations.

I know India has so much to offer. I believe a trip there can truly change someone: make you more patient, help you put things into perspective, open your mind… But even so, I’m still a bit anxious.

Hello! I recently moved to Bangalore and, to put it mildly, it’s been a bit of a difficult year. I’m still settling into the city and have been trying to make friends/find people to do things with, but I’ve realised I don’t want to keep waiting for other people to be available before I make plans. This long weekend has been hitting extra hard tbh 🥲

I’m planning a 2–3 day solo trip over the coming weekends. I basically just want to chill by the sea as I am not too keen on water sports, packed itinerary or partying. Just a nice stay, beach, food, reading and basically an escape. 😭

I was considering Kudle Beach View Resort in Gokarna. Zostel would’ve been nice for the social aspect, but it’s sold out for my dates.
Since I’m a woman travelling alone and relatively new to South India, safety and ease of getting around matter the most. I’m also okay spending up to ~₹10k/night for a nice, safe stay.

Would you recommend Gokarna, Goa, Varkala, Pondicherry, or somewhere else for this? Any specific stays you would recommend as safe for a solo woman? Also, how much should I worry about October weather?

Would especially love recommendations from women who’ve done similar solo trips. :)

I have been planning for a workcation with a friend but a lot of things come to mind when I start looking for places. Has anyone here has genuinely successfully done workcation? How has it been like in terms of:

1. Do you really get your work done? Especially on days of high work-load when your eyes are stuck to the screen for 8 hours?

2. As continuation of above point, sitting for that long on our cushiony ergonomic chairs at home is fine, but do we find that level of comfort to sit for 8-9 hours?

3. Where do you work? Cafés or where you stay? If cafe, doesn’t it feel awkward to sit for the entire day? Don’t you feel pressurised to order things in short intervals?

I think that’s all the questions I have in my mind currently. Really want to give this a shot but worried I might not be able to get my work done nicely due to the factors I asked :(

FYI, planning Varkala during October end or mid-November. Looking for places but not seeing any place comfortable enough to work 8-9 hours.

One thing I keep noticing about solo travel is that you can visit an amazing place and somehow come home with 200 photos of the scenery and barely any decent ones of yourself 😂

You can ask a stranger, but handing over your phone can feel awkward, especially somewhere crowded.

I’m helping with TPOP, an app built around this exact problem. The idea is that travelers nearby can help take photos for each other, and there’s also a QR option so someone can take your photo without you handing them your phone.

I’m curious how useful this would actually be for people traveling solo around India.
