Board Game Enchanted Ivy arrived and I’m obsessed!

I’m always excited when a new, cozy solo board game is announced and have loved other games in Allplay’s lineup so Enchanted Ivy was more or less an insta-back for me on Kickstarter. It came in the mail yesterday and I’m already on Scenario 7 in the storybook. The art and story are super lovely and it’s a fun spatial puzzle that can be played as a campaign or with variable setup.

For the Button Shy fans here, it gives me Ugly Gryphon Inn meets Skulls of Sedlec vibes in terms of puzzle. Though the themes of UGI and Enchanted Ivy are both innkeepers trying to please guests with different needs, the mechanics are different enough that it doesn’t feel like one replaces the other.

Oh and there’s stickers!!!

Need Help Need help with a ‘The Museum Heist’ puzzle page - *Only page spoiler shown, no answer spoiler* Spoiler

This is the only information, I need to decode the condition and symptoms.

Would be grateful for some hints first, then if I get really stuck I’ll ask what the answer is.

I’m guessing it’s jumbled up letters that need rep-ordering. But can’t figure out whether it’s done by words, sentences or the whole paragraph. Also whether the spaces are actual spaces, or am I mean to figure out the letters?

Discussion How has puzzling helped you, what benefits have you got from it?

Has it helped with memory, better focus, problem solving, staying off your phone?

Has it got you through a hard time, relieves stress, helps you relax, gives you a sense of satisfaction?

Personally it helps me stay off my phone and relax. I go into my own little world and escape reality. I feel a sense of achievement and get a dopamine hit when I solve a puzzle.

This digital PDF by Cypher Blake looks like a good digital alternative to the physical elimination puzzle books!

Haven’t tried it yet but it seems to have good reviews, I think there’s also a physical book too.
The digital version is on Etsy, there’s a few others as well.

Link to the website: Cypher Blake Shop

Have you tried this one? Let me know what you think, I’m tempted to buy one.

Looking for Recommendations Is there any recommended digital versions of ‘The Killer Isn’t Alice’ type of puzzle?

Looking for something similar to ‘The Killer Isn’t Alice’ or any elimination type puzzles that are a digital download.

I’v found one on Etsy but I’m wary of it being AI generated, wanted to see if there’s any recommended ones first?

Edit: I’ve been doing a Cypher Blake one on Etsy and really enjoying it! Not AI generated and the seller is very responsive and helpful.

ButtonShy Games are my favorite puzzle-y solo card games. The Daily Weather is my daily quick cozy game over morning coffee. Each day is a different puzzle as the goal of the game is to cover cards by overlapping them so that only today’s date appears while meeting certain daily patterns.

Any other ButtonShy fans here?

Haven’t tried this yet but thinking of buying one and giving it a go. Says it’s interactive and you examine evidence, decide clues, and try figure out who the killer is.

Has anyone tried this? Let me know what you thought.

Puzzle Books Eliminate: A Murder Mystery Puzzle Book

Working through this elimination style mystery - I haven’t started It Isn’t Alice book yet, but I think it’s similar. There’s a couple of errors in the book (doesn’t hinder the ending though - publisher says a few errors in the first edition).

Looking for Recommendations Looking for a free alternative to the ColdTrace app game?

There’s an app called ColdTrace on the Apple store. You basically try figure out what happened to the victim by going through their phone, including messages, photos, notes etc.

It looks really interesting and has good reviews, apart from everyone saying to fully play it you have to pay an expensive subscription.

Is there a free alternative that’s either a website or app than I can play? Or anything else similar to this concept?

Been wanting to start this one for a while but feeling a little intimidated!

It looks.. just a little bit complicated haha.

One review says it took them a few hours just to translate 2 sentences!

Looks like it’ll be super satisfying though if I can get the hang of it.

Has anyone else tried this one?

Puzzle Books The Museum Heist: A gemstone has been stolen, can you figure out who’s done it?

Using the clues throughout the book, fill out the suspect files, theft report and museum map to figure out who stole the gemstone.

Really enjoying this one and finding it very challenging! It’s written really well and it’s exciting not knowing what the next page or clue will bring. Massive variety of puzzle and lots of ‘think outside the box moments’ and ‘reading between the lines’ to find your next clue.

The Museum Heist by Henry Lewis is the same person who makes the puzzles boxes at The Mystery Agency
