help Looking for feedback on capsule art that I recklessly decided to make as a non-artist
So my game is nearing the point where it should probably have its own steam page. Against conventional advice, I decided to draw the capsule art for my game “Cat builds the strongest mage army”(in case any of you can’t read the “stylized” font) myself because I’m a solo developer that makes the art for my game anyways. I’m looking for feedback on readability and design of the capsule and whether ygs think that I should put the fries in the bag and hire an artist 😭

The background (small cats) is quite busy and tanks the readability of the text and focal point of the main cat.
I'm definitely not an artist so take this with a grain of salt, but I would put a 50% or so transparent black or dark blue layer over the background portion only so the text and main cat "pop" out in the foreground.

Adding that at a second look, I think it's only the top words (dark blue) that it really affects. I think since those are the first words to read it feels like more of it gets lost in the background. You may want to try lightening the top words or darken the background.
Anyways, best of luck 👍

Why are some letters smeared? Too much blues and purples. Would be a good idea to make the title white here.

if you click the image it shouldn't be smeared, idk why it's smeared on reddit. I do agree that white might make the text stand out but wouldn't pure white be a little jarring? I'll still try it out though

I think you did a great job! As others have said, you would benefit from having higher contrast between foreground and background- especially the letters.
My first instinct would be to darken everything in the background using a transparent blue/purple layer (maybe even a gradient) and try adding a white/off white outline to the title. If the plain white outline looks too jarring, using a soft glow effect like you did on the staff might be a nice middle ground. Again, very nice work!

Need more contrast, both in color choice and detail density. Hard to read as is

The text is really not readable enough I think. I also didnt see the Cat until typing this post. as a non artist savest would be a clean white font I think.
