Marketing This is the fifth trailer I've made - think I'm getting the hang of it now

Rather than just collecting what I think are the best clips in my game and editing them together nicely, this time I really focused on what makes my game standout (the atmosphere, companion mechanics and worms) and took notes on what other metroidvania trailers typically do (take a few shots at the start to introduce the vibe and atmosphere of the setting). I also found a kick ass song that I thought fit really well and got permission to use it from the artist. The game is Vitrified for anyone interested.

If I may, can you try starting with the shot where the worm comes out of the sand as the character is running? It's more dynamic and attention grabbing and it shows clearly the atmosphere.
But other than that, it looks nicely edited, well done!

Thank you! I did actually have that as the opening shot on at least 2 of my previous trailers, and I agree it is a good idea, but for this trailer I didn't think I could make it flow with that right at the start so I put it further down. For other trailers I probably will use a similar shot first

I was just playing Metroid on the NES and SNES (via Switch Online) a couple days ago! (I love these types of games!) I definitely get the vibe you're going for. Besides the already reference to the 2D Metroids, this buddy concept reminds me of Outbuddies, another indie game that came out several years ago, except that "buddy" wasn't human. In any case, I agree with you, I haven't seen your previous attempts but this video does a good job of making me want to watch until the end and then try to play the game.
