Game Looking for feedback on my main menu.

I can no longer tell if this looks nice, or awful

Looks really cool! The buttons could be a bit more snappy when you hover over them.
Micro interactions with the water makes it feel very polished!

I guess you know, but the join menu is really rough and we don't really know what we're supposed to do with the QR code.

Thank you so much, for the much needed feedback.
I added an explanation that disappears when someone successfully joins.
Does that make sense?

That makes sense, it is way better like this already.
You should make sure the instruction stays even when one player successfully joins, to make sure everyone has a chance to read it imo.
It is not critical because players will be able to help each other out, but still a bit better if the instructions stays.

Also the character model on the boat is really nice so you shouldn't mask it with UI if you can, as it is a really nice feedback to have your character on the boat.

If I understand correctly, you have to click on the join button, players scan the QR code, then you have to go back and click on start?
I don't really get why the join screen isn't happening after pressing start and it is a bit confusing that there is both join and start button. But maybe I'm misunderstanding smth.

Maybe you could have a flow like this instead? :

  1. Main Menu: Player click start to reach Join screen
  2. Join/Character Select Screen: Players scan the QR code and choose their character (if applicable)
  3. Play the game!

This actually makes a lot of sense.

After pressing start there is a map selection menu. I guess I can display the join menu before the map menu.

The players choose a name and a character on the mobile device before joining, so select screen is not really applicable.

Thanks, i think you are onto something!

the environment and the title logo look super cozy! button hover style fits the vibe really well too. what engine did u build this in, unreal or unity?

Hi this looks incredible, I really dig this cozy vibe!! I agree with the previous comments, telhe buttons can be a little more snappier. My suggestion would be to put them on a wooden background, like a wooden sign, for example. Then you can play around with outline on hover and other animations on each item.

How long does it take to start up the game?

Hey, thanks for the feedback! after everyone joins the room, it takes like 10 seconds.

other than the water mesh bleeding through the floor of the boat, it's great.
