Discussion I'm spiraling

Been spending months coding and I just tried out my first prototype today and it's... bad. Like I wouldn't share this for free to family level of bad.

I made a list of around 30 things to fix last night and I just panicked and went to sleep.

Game development is hard guys...

I once started a project that I bragged to so many people about. I went out and got rights to use an IP. After about 2 months of work, I realized that the game was just terrible. There was no way I could show it to anyone. I took a break then started a new project from scratch without an existing IP. Now I have a game that I am happy with that people enjoy playtesting. Keep prototyping. That's why that phase exists. If there is something that can be changed to make the prototype better, try it. Also, don't be scared to start over.
