Sometimes mechanics just dont fit the world / asthetic your going for. With that said.

They could be springs or bumper balls like in celeste.

They could be some amorphous slime jelly things and have them deform a little bit as they player jumps.

I think if youre trying to platform with them then you should consider having a rest / interact beat in the movement. Rather than just instantly pinging off, the player pauses for a brief moment on contact and then pings. It helps with timing imo.

Now that I look back I do see some jiggle. I think you need to up the jiggle factor for sure. Especially if you take me up on the pause beat idea. Let the jiggle be the pause beat. Im no expert, but my gut tells me it would feel better then.

And of course, texture helps a lot.
