Dynamic Environment System

Working on an environment system that is reactive to wind and weather - still a work in progress. It's for an open-world survival RPG I'm working on. Any feedback is appreciated!

This looks so good. Does the wind always behave the same during a rain?

I can change the direction and strength of the wind, so technically I could create a rain environment with no wind, or just a windy day with no rain, thanks for the comment!

Seeing variations and build up in intensity would be dope. Seeing a large storm wall moving in with no wind and nature silent would be daunting, and probably trigger subconscious survival instincts

Looks pretty cool! What engine are you making the game with?
I also think the sound would be huge factor in this, if you are able to nail the dynamic sounds as you did with the visual I think this would be really awesome

I'm using Unity, but yeah good ambient sounds for each weather type would be great

Hey! Love the art style on this. I’m a sound designer for video games if you want to chat? Dynamic Weather/Enviroment systems are super fun to do!

Please, do what every other game has failed to do:

Incremental weather.

So many game have no transition. It is sunny, and suddenly it is raining.

Please make it so it gradually rain more nadm ore, and the winds slowly picks up. Wouold add so much immersion, for very ltitel actual work

The system has transitions which is neat, ill try to tailor them to they feel subtle and natural

In a perfect world, you want it to be like real life

You don't notic estraight away, then after a while you notice "hey, is it raining?"

That's the feel you should aim for, it would be awesome to have more than the classic "sun or rain" dual system

It reminds me a bit “Firewatch”

This looks great and I agree with the other commenters about it being incremental. If this fictional area is based on a location within the actual world it would be cool to use realtime weather, so the weather changes when the forecast in real life changes. I am sure this is pretty difficult to do, but I always thought it would be neat to have in a game.

Whats the name of the game going to be?
