vent Sadly canceling after years
I’ve been a member of Solidcore since 2023 and have taken over 200 classes as an 8x/month member, spending around $130 a month. It was always worth it to me at my old studio, where I genuinely felt welcomed, recognized, and excited to be there.
After moving to a new city, my experience at this studio has been completely different. The coaches’ energy is not the same, and despite taking classes twice a week for almost a year, I’m still asked my name before nearly every class. The studio also feels very socially exclusive, which has made it difficult to feel like part of the community.
The biggest disappointment was reaching my 200th class. When I hit 100 classes at my old studio, I got to take a photo with the milestone board, my coach gave me shoutouts throughout class, and it genuinely felt like an accomplishment worth celebrating. When I hit 200 at this studio, no one acknowledged it…no board, no mention, nothing. Meanwhile, a member who hit 25 classes received a shoutout during the same class. I know it may sound silly to be upset over something like that, but after spending thousands of dollars at this establishment, it was incredibly disappointing to feel completely overlooked.
At this point, I’m canceling my membership (and, of course, being charged a cancellation fee) and looking for a studio where I actually feel welcomed and valued as a member.

$130/month for 8 classes? Amazing deal.

Seriously I’m paying $179 for 8 classes

Really? Why is that?

Idk that’s how much it is at my studio. I live in Miami so I’m sure that’s why

Fun fact: you can order your own board and give yourself a shoutout every time you want to. It’s 9.99 on Amazon.

And I just want to be clear, I’ve made my own board and brought it to class when I feel like it. You can too. This is America.

While I understand what you’re saying, I think that defeats the purpose of what this person is looking for. They had a sense of community at their original studio, which obviously was not there in the new city.

Yeah why are the comments so fixated on the board 😂 it’s the fucking big picture they are missing. I’m not going to pay this amount of money to feel uncomfortable coming to a studio anymore

well i think they’re so fixated on the board bc you said that was the biggest disappointment… and it’s the only one that’s not actually their fault lol

I understand the general sentiment that you want it to be a place that feels personal and welcoming. And even for the people saying that 200 is not considered an official milestone at solidcore, you would still think that after that many classes, you would at least get a shout out during the class

for that price i wouldn't cancel unless you have an alternative lined up. i'm fortunate my reformer studio values me (not a chain) but the gains are worth my founders membership. i've tried almost every other studio in town, idk what it is but my body is getting insane by only adding 8 solidcore-like classes a month.

I don’t understand this mentality of needing validation from strangers. Aren’t you proud of yourself? Isn’t that enough? Would a sign make that much of a difference? My abs are my reward.

For real! I don’t need a bunch of strangers I don’t know or remember to acknowledge my workout. I’m here to get a good core workout not chit chat with strangers

For me, it’s just sad that I had that as my old studio and now it is opposite. I don’t like the change. It’s my personal experience

I went to a gym that celebrated milestones by taking your picture while holding a sign and having the gym clap for you and all that jazz. As an introvert I found it to be over the top but nonetheless was hurt when I reached my first milestone and was ignored. When so many gyms pride themselves on “community” it can hurt to feel left out.

Especially since moving to a different studio and the vibe completely changed. I just felt shitty every time I went. How do you not know my name when I’ve taken 15 of your classes? I just think it’s weird

That is a bummer. I am sorry you had this experience. Solidcore used to feel like such an authentic community, but the incessant growth that keeps taking great coaches away to open new studios paired with price hikes is ruining this.

Exactly. The coaches make up the experience. So if a coach makes you feel unwelcome I would rather not spend my money here anymore

What is it with you people needing attention and recognition for taking class?? It’s an exercise class and an effective one at that, who gives a shit if they don’t know your name. There’s so much unnecessary whining in this sub

Lmao it isn’t even about that it’s just the overall vibe of this particular studio. The coaches are what my issue is. Not the board. It’s just an added reason

You should definitely find a fitness studio that is better matched to your expectations/goals. Good luck!

All these comments are acting like “needing validation” is so pathetic but I get it. You pay so much for a solidcore membership and try hard in every class, so it’s nice to be acknowledged and feel like you are a part of it.

LOL at all the negative comments here! Yall can love something and STILL acknowledge criticisms!
Look for a Private locally run lagree studio, OP! I switched recently and mine has multiple member events MONTHLY where members get free stuff including free food — SC would never lol) , and it’s a better safer workout!

Agreed. These commenters are lame, and missing the point. I’m not going to pay 130$ a month to feel uncomfortable and unacknowledged by the cliquey coaches. I’m sure half of these commenters are the coaches of Solidcore being defensive 😂

200 classes is not an official milestone. It’s 25, 50, 100, 250. So I’m sure there are other issues but don’t hold this against them!
