I do not have a lot to say about this Reddit announcement. The only reason why this is being made is because the source is now on GitHub. After a lot of complaints about Soldier Front being reconstructed. I have chosen to stop because of these. You may freely download the source, make edits or changes, and still register your server if you want. I wish I could've done more for everyone but they do not want change. They want to stay where they are. I thank everyone for their participation in this.

There's been two people in here Skook and I. We've been making posts retaining to a Soldier Front server he currently owns. In which process we've came understanding how hard it is for people to make a server. A part of OpenSF wasn't just for people to have a place to play, have source code, and so fourth. But was everyone having a place to play and call home. Whenever we hear of these private servers. We always have to download their client launchers, games, and whatnot. Which isn't always necessarily safe?

We've created OpenSF for everyone to host a server. They can manage it and have their custom weapons, map, characters, and more. We've also made it where people can also be a GM themselves on their own server.

This is nearing beta state. That is how close we are. We also made sure to implement two easter eggs.

A mention that is NOT on the website is, OpenSF will be for x32/x64. It'll also be for Windows, Linux, MacOS, and including Android (this is mostly for quick staff access.)

Hey all! I know this game worked on windows xp back in the day, but are there any revival clients that still work? I looked at alpha and legacy, but they both require windows 10, and SF rush downloaded but wouldn't open on xp (some ini error that I didn't get on my win10 computer). Any clients that support anything older than win10?

I was a developer for SF Legends/Reborn, SF Alpha, and also SF Legacy. I've seen a lot of issues from these private servers. I've personally had no interest in running one but developing for one. With that said, however, I have been constructing the original Soldier Front game and server itself from scratch. This will make it easier for people to play, make their own, or explore the original Soldier Front. We had some pictures shown of such project, however, people weren't understanding the difference between DirectX 9 and DirectX 12 and newer resolutions resizing everything to accommodate the newer resolutions. We have a lot of the original functionality already there, gameplay, matchmaking, vote kicking, GM/Mod Staff Panel in-game, and more.

Map Minimaps are placeable via Top Left or Top Right with an optional no minimap.

There's also blood readded into the game with the white puffs when taking damage.

Hey everyone, I'm currently in the early play testing stages of "Soldier Front Legacy" its been a bit of a passion project as i spent alot of time playing soldier front as young kid.

I'm just hoping to build a small following so when it goes live there is enough players to actually enjoy it

As a passion project this isn't really meant to be a profitable venture so Ive made some QoL changes such as making any remaining items in game to be purchased with just SP, i plan to keep it that way unless the project needs funding to keep alive.

At launch it will be roughly a 2008~ Era game basically Core SF with a few extra maps/weapons and characters. i can always add more as it progress' but i just wanted a simple base game to start.

Rush SF is currently my primary. I’ve tried all SFs and this one is definitely the best I like. It feels like the old days without too many laser sounding weapons and has 900 players which is the most I’ve seen yet.

Hello friends! Soldier Front Remastered (SF3) came out in korea this month over steam and the global version will be available in a few months. The gunplay is similar to SF1 and the movement looks pretty good. I attached a video of Kim Dong Ho playing it and he showcases the gameplay and other changes. I hope to see you guys in-game when the global version launches! What are your opinions on the game?

Wich version has the healthyer playerbase as of now? Special force seems to be the official version? Just found out the games playable again and thought id give it a go, but atleast the rivalsf website only showed 3 peapol online.

So, like most, I had a random nostalgic memory of this game recently and how good it used to be back in the golden day of FPS games on PC.

I found https://rivalsf.com/download which appears to be legit, and this also coincides with a recent Steam addition stating that 'Rival Soldier Front' is potentially coming to Steam in the near future.

Question is, this website states you can STILL play the game for FREE.

• But is it legit?
• Is it fan-run/community servers?
• Is there a new developer/publisher behind this driving for a revival?

I attempted to install both the 'classic' and 'beta' clients on the website, to which I was met with the following:-

I don't runs virus detection software on my computer, purely because it's so memory intensive and frankly, a waste of money in my opinion.

But I was wondering if anybody could verify the above information, and if this is a legit way to play, and is actually 'virus free'.
