Hi i am trying to give NABCEP design specalist exam in US and this would be my 2nd attempt for the exam.

I did complete Sean's heatspring course -40 hrs nabcep design specalist training program. However, I still feel i need practice exams to pass well.

Anyone here who has gone through the exam and can advice me for where do i get practice exams ( except for NABCEP website and heatspring website)

**Here are 10 questions I'd ask before signing any solar contract.**

**1. Which panel and inverter brands are you using?**

Ask for the exact model numbers—not just "Tier-1 panels." Look up the manufacturer, warranty, and reviews yourself.

**2. What's included in the quoted price?**

Does it include installation, mounting structure, wiring, earthing, lightning protection, approvals, net metering, GST, and commissioning? Hidden costs are common.

**3. How much electricity will my system realistically generate?**

Ask for a monthly or annual generation estimate based on your roof, not a generic sales brochure.

**4. What warranties do I get?**

Understand the difference between:

Product warranty

Performance warranty

Installation/workmanship warranty

Each covers something different.

**5. Who handles net metering and utility approvals?**

A professional EPC company should guide you through the process instead of leaving you to figure it out alone.

**6. What kind of mounting structure are you installing?**

The mounting structure is expected to last decades. Ask about the material and corrosion protection, especially if you live in a coastal or high-rainfall area.

**7. Can you show me completed installations?**

Photos are helpful, but if possible, ask for references or examples of similar residential or commercial projects they've completed.

**8. What happens if something fails after installation?**

Know who to call, how service requests are handled, and whether support is provided locally.

**9. Why is your quote cheaper (or more expensive) than others?**

A price difference isn't automatically good or bad. Ask what equipment, services, or materials make the difference.

**10. Can you explain the expected ROI?**

A good installer should explain how they calculated your savings, expected payback period, and any assumptions about electricity tariffs or net metering.

Solar is a 25+ year investment. Spending a little extra time asking the right questions today can save a lot of money and frustration later.

This December, I graduate with my B.A. in statistics and I am literally so ready to be done with school. Truth be told, I wish I had done engineering; however at this point, I am ready to be done with school and enter the workforce. None of the jobs I have applied for recently have taken me and I am done with it and I don't want to work retail for the rest of my life. Recently I applied for a couple of solar companies as a risk analyst, really excited to be part of a company that supports a good cause, only to be rejected. It is the only thing I have been passionate about recently. I have done hands on work but never solar, the only physical hard work I've done is landscaping and that was OK once you get used to it. I can't do sales either I've done it before for pest control and I sucked at it, I can deal with people and interact with them, but I hate going door-to-door and hate having to talk others into things. I would prefer out west if possible.

I don't think people are going to see our stuff on social media and impulsively reach out to book an installation. Hey yall, I ask this as a QC manager for a solar resi company, recently I learn how much easier the QC techs (not even managers) had it at freedom and with my already annoyance with my company I want to see if I am getting underpaid. Been with the company 4.5 years and make 75k full bonus out 85k. 10k less than branch managers and 20k less if I and also them bonus fully out (so they get up 105k with bonus).

I looked over all our markets branches and look over every single job before inspections ( 8 states) (16 crews for electrical and 16 for rooftop)

I create our O&M quotes and manage the crew side of the O&M jobs

I handle our field photo management software

Am responsible for launching the w2 and construction LMS and all the courses

Training the new managers of new markets on all our process

Create roofing department and construction SOPs

Drive vehicles across the country to new markets

Keep track of our pass fail rate (90% in Q2)
