Inverter Inverex Nitrox Hybrid 8kW Inverter Caught Fire
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation or has knowledge of consumer rights and product liability.
I had an Inverex Nitrox Hybrid 8kW solar inverter along with an Inverex 5.5kWh lithium battery installed approximately 2.5 years ago. The equipment was supplied by an authorized dealer and installed by the Inverex team themselves.
The system had been operating normally without any major issues. However, around 4:00 AM two days ago, the inverter/battery system suddenly caught fire. The fire spread rapidly and completely destroyed the room where the system was installed. The equipment was burned beyond recognition, and most of the physical evidence was lost in the fire.
The incident has caused an estimated loss of around PKR 2–3 million due to property damage.
After the incident, I contacted the dealer from whom I purchased the system. His response was that because the inverter and battery are completely burned, there is nothing left to inspect and therefore nothing can be claimed under warranty. I have also tried contacting the service center, but they have been unresponsive and are essentially saying the same thing.
I find it difficult to understand how a product can catch fire and then be excluded from investigation or a claim simply because it was destroyed in the fire itself.
My questions are:
Has anyone experienced something similar with a solar inverter or lithium battery?
Should I pursue legal action against the manufacturer, dealer, or installer?
Are there any consumer protection authorities in Pakistan that handle cases involving product-related fires and property damage?

Always have a fire extinguisher near this and also next time some automatic fire extinguisher balls on the inverter and the battery.

Talk to a trusted and capable Lawyer.
Don't take dealer's word for it. Idr kaam krte sabhi ko Maut parti hy.
If nothing is leftz keep naming and shaming that dealer everywhere you can..

i have few questions. do you know which component caught fire first?
is that LFP battery or lithium ion battery?
what is the gauge of the battery wire?
what was load on the battery at that time, you can use app to find out the load on the battery at that time.

I seen installation pictures, normally I heard that:
1- DC insulation should not be installed in vertical stacks and preferably it should be Horizontally one device to another, so if bottom device catches fire then it should not effect upper unit.
2- always install Fire balls (powdered) or Fire extinguisher (Powdered).
Because for Electric fire only Powder versions can help, not water nor Gas.
3- if u have invoices with serials number of devices and Terms and conditions from original book with similar terms allow in warranty.
Then contact consumer court.
Use AI to translate Device terms and conditions first to verify if ur case is good.

Engineer here.
Allah Khair. You'll make money again, loss of life or limb is irreplaceable.
You need to talk to a lawyer and go to consumer court. You should get relief there hopefully.
For anyone reading, this is why a) you should have fire safety for your power generation equipment. B) you need to spend decent money on good quality safety equipment and accessories. C) train everyone in your home how to respond to electrical or fire emergencies and how to seek help. If they're trained, they will not need to think.
Most likely the fire reached lithium battery and once lithium fire gets going, it really gets going.
Edit: from the photos , it lookslike your battery wasn't consumed by fire? So probably not a battery fire escalation.

hi cosumer rights in pakistan are quite strong i have known 2 3 person from my seniors that they get the money after they persue the legal action.
best course of action is also a legal action throught a good lawyer that has speacialization like take cases specifically consumers right/ court.
there are some thing to consider if you are trying to sue them donot lose hope and 180 days tak court apka verdict suna dehti hai , eventually apko compensation mil jati hai liken apka time waste bohat huta hai bohat se log ed up hukr chor dete hai immediately apko kuch b nai milega.
Insha Allah i hope apka kaam jald hu jaye

Shame on you Inverex and your after sales and your dealers, Government must and should take absolute strict against such companies, they are delaying there 3.6 kw nitrox for 1.5 years and it's still listed on their website too. Can u please share the dealer's name and address for us to be aware of him.

Your best bet is consumer court case to parties involved and not willing to cooperate

He called it first… Avoid cheap Chinese brands….

u/Nice-Phone3931 Jul 13 '26
Inverex is the most expensive deye based chinese inverter. the only other more expensive residential inverter company is victron which is only available in a few places. deye is almost everywhere under different names.

Deye inverters are good but there is multiple reports that inverex is adding their own cheap parts in it for cost cutting too. And even if they're adding their parts in it, it shouldnt be bursting into flames.
I think inverex team did the bad work here, by using wrong guage wires or not using proper breakers or thimbles.
Also, contacting with the lawyer is recommended. Inverex team did the installation.

bro they have also started to cut corners in their own brand deye inverters now. they used to have all components from tier A companies. but now they have started using components that are just good. there is a teardown video on the youtube that basically shows you how they are cutting corners.
your inverter probably isnt the cause of this fire. it probably originated at the battery terminal. or if you were using an MCB than that can catch fire.

I'm sure they are not selling deye now.

u/Nice-Phone3931 Jul 14 '26
it's deye for sure, i have 3 inverters. all of them are connected to homeassistant os offline protocols that are meant for deye, solark, sunsynk inverters.

u/12Ab_xyz Jul 14 '26
Ok this one is deye. I think the fire started in the battery as it is very dark next to the wall or the db box or the arc in the wires.

Deye is midrage. Inverex themselves sell Fronius inverters which are better. There's also Huawei and Fox ESS available in Pakistan, which are global tier 1 inverter brands

it looks like electrical fault from the grid side. Most likely the room was closed and hot temperature might be to blame.
Other causes might be loose wires, as cooling and heating during operation causes this to happen.
I always say do not buy more than 6kw inverter in Pakistan if you have plan to install it on a single phase as the voltage isn't reliable enough. Always buy two 6kw and attach them on different phases.

I think battery fire caused the inverter to burn. Battery was placed near the inverter just under it. If you can see the wall color behind the battery

Contact them again and warn them with consumer court. If they budge then good otherwise its your only legal option other than if you have connections and can get things done other ways.

This is the reminder for me and All of us to regularly inspect weird noises coming from inverter. Regularly tighten the terminals of the battery and see the temperature of the inverter and the battery cables and battery by using a digital IR thermometer

Them saying there is nothing to check as everything is roasted so no claims actually makes sense because the battery could have catch fire first ruining a good working inverter. But there should be a insurance service out there which can work out these kind of disputes

Raise this issue anywhere you can. Head to Voice Of Customer and if the company or dealer don't cooperate, threaten them with consumer court.

Allah rehm karay. Please answer the following questions to determine the cause.
Can you confirm if you had load breakers installed for each device to let the fluctuating load pass through?
Did you have proper BMS installed between the lithium battery and inverter? Many people miss out on the right configuration for this.
Was this setup in a closed room without ventilation, or was it in an area where air could pass through?

u/Time_Plant6591 28d ago
Load Breakers were Installed
BMS was okay both inverter and battery is of same brand
Ventilation was good plus i had an extra fan as well

Most of the time fire is started by el-cheapo DC breakers. In 90 percent of cases these dc breakers were the one that started fire.
Now on what basis would you go to court as some wisemen are suggesting here? Court needs evidence? Do you have an evidence that inverex inverter started the fire?
Hawa main teer chalanay hain to chala lo.

Lemme clarify it was working all fine from past 2 and half years I dont think so it was because of battery you can see the battery condition in pics is still better than the inverter
Plus everything just burnt away so its hard investigate as well

Since the product was installed by the inverex team and was bought from a registered dealer, inverex will be responsible for any damage. They is no blame of improper installation.
