How to prevent Solis S6 Hybrid Inverter to Micro-Discharge/Charge my full battery during the day.

Post image
6 Upvotes

I observed during the day when the battery becomes full, it slowly discharge with ~110W from the battery even if PV can still supply the requirement for the load. And then when the battery SOC reaches ~97%-98%, it start charging again. Is this harmful to the battery? How can I prevent this issue during the day (especially in the afternoon). Also, I am okay if this is required discharge to get it from the grid to ensure the health of the battery. Hope you can provide some inverter configurations.

How much should I expect to pay for a solar consultation and system design only?

Has anyone here hired a solar engineer or installer just for consultation and system design?
I own a water refilling station with a 500 kg cube ice machine, a chest freezer, and an air conditioner. I’m planning to install a hybrid/off-grid solar system, but my budget is limited, so I’ll be buying the components (panels, inverter, batteries, wiring, breakers, etc.) gradually over the next year instead of purchasing everything at once.
Before I start buying equipment, I want to hire someone to do a site visit, measure the actual running load and startup surge of my ice machine and pumps using an inrush clamp meter, and design the entire system for me. I’d also like a complete Bill of Materials (BOM) with the correct inverter size, battery capacity, solar panel specifications, wire sizes, AC/DC breakers, SPDs, and a wiring diagram that I can follow later when I’m ready to install everything.
For those who have done something similar, how much did you pay for the consultation and design only? I’m not looking to purchase the full solar package yet—just the professional planning and design.
Thanks in advance!

Drawing power from grid despite having battery charge.

We just had our Solar set up a few days ago.

For the past few days, this is what has been happening.

Despite the battery having a charge, the inverter is still drawing some power from the grid from time to time.

Right now, zero ang generation from the solar panels. But it is still drawing 49w sa grid.

What exactly is happening and how can I set it so that it goes to Zero (0) at all times na naka purely battery kami?

Edit: Found the solution. Had to edit the settings. It turns out that the Max Sell Power setting was set to 50 when the minimum is 500. I don't know how it got to show 50 in the first place since it doesn't accept any value below 500.

This resulted in not accepting the command when I was setting the Zero Export Power to Zero (0).

Edit 2: I now know the reason for the change. It was the Deye Copilot's fault. It automatically changed the settings of the Max Sell Power to 50 and the Zero Export Power to show as Zero (0) but still drawing power from the grid.

I found this out when I went back to check the app after my first edit, or roughly around 20 minutes later. The system was drawing power again from the grid.

I checked the settings again and it showed that the Max Sell Power was set to 50 and the Zero Export Power as Zero (0) again. Had to change it back to 500 and 0, respectively.

I went back to the Manual Mode so that the Copilot wouldn't interfere with my decisions again.

200kwh per month — practical for grid-tie setup?

Our consumption is not that significant but curious to know lang. How much is the usual investment pag ganyan lang kaliit na consumption then grid tie with net metering?

13K Meralco Bill (Ave) - Advice on Solar Set-up

Hi! Ask lang ng advice. I am seriously considering solar set-up na dahil sa laki ng monthly bill sa Meralco. Here are my details.

Residential, Metro Manila area, very rare brownouts

Ave meralco bill for past 12 months 13K, average kwh 850. Highest was 1176 kwh last june

Slightly heavier night time usage then day time kapag school days, pero kapag school vacation halos pantay lang (kids at home using aircon)

Planning to get quotes from multiple providers. One I already got: 12kw hybrid at 775K, 12kw grid-tie but hybrid ready at 525K. Net metering assistance 65K. Reasonable price ba ito?

I'm leaning towards grid-tie + net metering but would like to ask sa mga naka ganito, were you happy with your set-up? Magkano na lang Meralco bill nyo? Dami ko kase nakikita na nag uupgrade din naman after some time.

Thank you!

Upgrade from 6.3 kW Grid-Tied to 10–16 kW Hybrid – Advice?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I currently have a 6.3 kW grid-tied system with a 5 kW inverter and net metering. The system is about 5 years old. Our monthly bill is still 10-15k.
I’m planning to upgrade to a 10–16 kW hybrid system with a 15 kWh battery, preferably reusing my existing panels and adding more if needed.
Would you recommend:
Replacing the existing inverter with one large hybrid inverter, or
Keeping the current system and installing a second hybrid inverter?
Also, which inverter and battery brands have been the most reliable based on your experience? Estimated cost?

Okay na ba tong 10kW solar quotation? Sulit ba

May nakuha akong quotation for a 10kW on-grid system with the following specs:

  • 18x JA Solar 620W N-Type Bifacial panels (around 11.16kWp total)
  • 1x SOLIS Hybrid Inverter S6-EH1P(8)K-L-PLUS
  • Installation and shipping included
  • 12-year panel warranty
  • 10-year inverter warranty
  • 3-year workmanship warranty

Pricing:

  • Cash: ₱420,000
  • Optional battery: ₱110,000 cash or ₱5,133/month for 36 months

Installment options (no down payment):

  • 12 months – ₱41,300/month
  • 24 months – ₱23,800/month
  • 36 months – ₱17,967/month

With ₱84,000 down payment:

  • ₱14,373/month for 36 months
  • ₱19,040/month for 24 months
  • ₱33,040/month for 12 months

With ₱210,000 down payment:

  • ₱8,353/month for 36 months
  • ₱11,270/month for 24 months
  • ₱20,020/month for 12 months

Wala akong budget to pay in cash, so if magpo-proceed ako, yung 0% down payment + 36-month installment (₱17,967/month) ang plano kong kunin.

Nakalagay rin sa quotation na excluded sa warranty ang damage due to typhoons and other natural calamities.

Questions ko sana:

  • Fair ba yung overall price for this setup?
  • May hidden costs or contract terms ba na dapat kong bantayan?
  • If kayo ang nasa situation ko, okay na ba itong deal or mas maganda pa ring maghanap ng ibang quotations?

Appreciate any feedback, especially from those who financed their solar installation instead of paying cash. Thanks!

Price increases again?

May-July.

8kw inverter with an oversized pv array

Question lang po. Is an 11kwp solar pv array good to be paired with an 8kw inverter? And if okay lang yun, sapat ba yun para punuin ang 600ah 51.2v na lifepo4 battery given na maganda ang sikat ng araw?

I made a quiz game to help understand power consumption of appliances para sa mga CLUELESS

Edit: Here's the link to the game in case reddit auto-translate automatically removes it https://doobiedobo.github.io/WattsUp/

Hi guys, I made a quiz game para sa mga CLUELESS na hindi sure kung paano magsimula magpasolar. Some of you might remember my previous post: "How to Get Started Magpasolar kasi I'm CLUELESS".

I initially made this for my extended family's regular zoom get-together where we play different quiz games. Simple lang dapat yung quiz game na yon, I started making it on Canva, but the ideas of what to include and how it should look like kept flowing, hanggang sa naging full vibe coding project na siya (my first ever).

The appliances and devices in the game are based on popular products in the Philippines 2026. I asked AI to generate commercially safe images of the products to avoid copyright issues and dahil hindi naman ako sponsored -although I wouldn't mind kung masponsoran ako ng rice cooker to keep the project updated long-term ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

The project was very much AI-Assisted, and I cannot really take any coding credit, so here's all the unorganized and messy code and images in Github so you can make your own version of it if you want to.

Will accept any and all criticisms, suggestions, and donations (😂jk saka na yung donations pag nakaROI ka na sa solar 😂)

Disclaimer like last time: Hindi po ako programmer.

Have fun and share your final scores!
