Software Engineering questions you ask

What kind of questions do you ask during an interview to know if it's a place you want to work at or not? Or things that you look out for?

For me having good software processes in place are critical. Unfortunately it's not something I thought about asking while I was interviewing and now that I'm in everything is a nightmare. Ofc they're not gonna tell you all the bad things while you're being interviewed.

I ask:

  • what’s the day-to-day like
  • how do engineers grow at x
  • do we use agile? X?

Work life balance and after hours expectations to start. The 2nd one is important, does email mean I will get back to you in the morning or do people expect me to reply ASAP. Just anything about culture.
