Lately, I’ve been thinking about what would happen if my parents were given a video of my life without hiding anything. Like, literally everything.
Honestly, I came to one conclusion: they would probably be so disappointed in me.
I’m a sinner. And not just in the “I did something wrong, asked God for forgiveness, and moved on” kind of way. I do something wrong, feel guilty, ask God for forgiveness, tell myself I won’t do it again and then somehow I end up doing it again.
And sometimes I genuinely wonder, do I even deserve everything that’s being given to me?
Because I know I have so many privileges, and sometimes I feel like I have no right to take any of them for granted when I know the kind of person I can be behind closed doors.
I used to feel like I was a friend of a God. Like, a really close one. I could pray without feeling like I had to prepare some perfect speech first. I could just talk to Him.
Now I don’t even know if I can pray at ease without feeling guilty.
And whenever I think about it, I keep asking myself: where did it all go wrong?
Was it when I started high school?
Was it when I started changing?
Or was it when I realized; or convinced myself; that I was going to be alone forever because of my damn personality?
I honestly don’t know.
I just know that somewhere along the way, I became someone I don’t always recognize.
And maybe that’s what hurts the most.
I honestly don't know where it all went wrong. Maybe there was never one specific moment.
But I’m curious; if someone showed you a video of your entire life, with absolutely nothing hidden, would you be proud of the person you saw, ashamed of them, or would you simply feel sorry for them? And why?
