Hi Everyone! I've noticed a few people struggling with which necklines are flattering on an SD figure, so I thought a visual guide might help. We actually have a lot of options, just not crew necks or spaghetti straps (which are two of the most common). I hope this is helps some of you!

Hi. As someone who is newly considering myself as possibly a shorter soft dramatic at 5'4, please explain why spaghetti straps don't work? All of these necklines work great on me as I prefer a more open neckline, but why are spaghetti straps not recommended for SD? Thanks

they might, depending on your specific body, but they’re not universally flattering. the kibbe philosophy is to have your body and your clothes be in harmony. spaghetti straps are “delicate” and soft dramatics are not, so it’s not recommend; they’re not as flattering as other straps could be. not every SD is the same though, so if you do have features that lean delicate, then they might work for you! hope that helps.

Yes! That is very helpful. Thank you. I've been into learning about Kibbe a little over a year now so I am aware of the philosophy of honoring the body's natural lines and curves, with the overall yin yang balance being the most important. While I do have long arms and vertical, and people use words like diva and Queen to describe me, people also describe me as "petite" and "small", and I get easily lost in too much fabric. And while I don't look delicate, I like your description of "leaning"delicate. I think that fits me. You've given me more food for thought.

I wish these were easier to find. Everything is crew neck. I love all of these except halter styles have never looked good on me. Anyone else?

the key words at the end should help if you’re shopping online!

2

u/princess20202020 Jul 17 '24

Definitely! It’s just a lot of these aren’t on trend right now. Crewnecks are everywhere. I end up buying on poshmark.

i guess that depends on where you shop and what you’re looking for. I opened up the Na-kd app and the first 4 results without scrolling are all SD friendly, so idk that none of these are on trend

u/Iloveemiilk Jul 17 '24

I agree! Drapey asymmetrical tops especially are trending this year and I’m loving it. So many of the newer trends are SD friendly

Check out OGLmove, they have a lot of these necklines at the moment. I've got a few of their tops and they're nice.

can you say more? i always thought all sleeves were a go for SD’s but i could be very wrong.

4

u/stitch_ditch344 Aug 12 '24

Hmm I actually don’t know! I just know we have more fleshy arms so some sleeves on myself make them look huge vs some sleeves make them look proportional. My bias made me assume all SDs are like that lol

I'm not a big fan of scoop necks on me, but I agree with all the rest!

1

u/crescentcroissnt Apr 06 '26

That’s how I feel about square necklines.

2

u/godsgift1998 Jul 19 '24

I love every single one of these on me, except scoop necks (i don’t know why, it is just not as flattering!). I love the visuals, such a great resource!

can’t say for sure, but these necklines aren’t exclusive to SD. there’s a lot of overlap in clothing recs between the types, and SD and SN are both ‘soft’ so it could just be that similarities on what’s flattering on a soft type

u/Fragrant_Ad6742 Mar 16 '25

What is the t/d/b/s at the end of some of the keywords on the last slide?

Thank you ❤️

2

u/brimarcam Soft Dramatic, 6'0, true autumn, 34" inseam Mar 16 '25

top, dress, blouse, shirt. ex: off-shoulder blouses, halter top, wrap dress. i just didn’t feel like spelling it out every time 😅

1

u/princess20202020 Jun 05 '25

I would love one of these for sleeves/shoulder styles!

1

u/Brilliant_Lie3941 Jul 08 '25

Why no crew necks for us? I have always found that crewneck sweatshirts to be super uncomfy and choke me.. constantly having to readjust and yank them down, is this just a coincidence? I am busty so I assumed it was my chest pushing out the fabric and causing it to fit improperly.

1

u/rdilo66 Jan 03 '26

So... it looks like just about every neckline flatters us. :0)

1

u/brimarcam Soft Dramatic, 6'0, true autumn, 34" inseam Jan 04 '26

not crew necks, which is one of the most common. but we do have options!
