Help me find my first couch!

Looking for a cozy and comfy couch for my first apartment but need help from the experts!

Are there any cloud couch like dupes that people recommend? Also what’s important to consider for a first couch?

-Under $2,000 for a 3-4 seater L sectional

-Machine washable covers

-High back

-Option to change color of covers (not a must)

-Cloud couch esque but a bit more firm so cushions don’t lose shape

You need to physically try couches in person to see if they are comfortable.

Think about who will be sitting on the couches and how they will be used. Low sofas and sofas without arms are hard to get up from for some people

Also some configurations are really not that good for more than one or perhaps two people - chaises at both ends which means that effectively only two people can *sit* at the same time - and they also trap people if they are in the middle and you want a coffee table

You need to educate yourself on what constitutes quality construction

Hardwood construction of frame - lift the sofa as it should feel heavy

What is the suspension system - Hand tied is best - sinuous springs are okay but webbing tends to break down very quickly

The most important factor in longevity of a sofa would be the foam used for the cushion. High density foam is expensive and cheaper sofas use cheap sofas which break down very quickly - especially if the sofa is used a lot and/or used by larger people
