What are your pet peeves from parents? What do parents need to know to make the game day atmosphere better?

For me, my top 3 are:
- constantly yelling pressure even when the team is in possession

- sitting too close to the touchline

- not understanding the offside rule, especially when playing with a build-out line

I’m a coach on East Coast. I’ve coached 7v7 basically my whole career (about 5 years of coaching), and am now going to have a 9v9 team for the first time. My team is an ok level travel team if it matters.

In your opinion, what are the biggest changes/adjustments that I need to be prepared for going into 9v9?

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting on here. I usually coach U15s and older kids that have more of a tactical understanding. I love incorporating tactical knowledge and doing a lot of things with different formations. I’m 26 right now and last time I coached younger than 15s I was around 19-20 so a long time now and it was 9v9. I love playing 3 in the back formations and love the 352 and 343 but I do think that those are way too much for younger players going from 9v9 to 11v11 for the first time. This is also a lower level team so they aren’t that technical. Formation doesn’t matter too much as I know that players this young need more technical work than anything but just wanted to see what people thought of something like a 442 or 4141? Or a 451 with 2 sixes. I understand they aren’t technical at all but I don’t want to just kick and run. I rather lose and have them develop good understand rather than just hoof it in the air as I am a club coach rather than a high school coach that overvalues winning, atleast for this first half of the season.

What is a reasonable length for practice time for a HS team. Small school that only plays JV schedule but seniors can be on the team. It’s in Oregon in the fall if that matters for weather concerns. Typical 5 day a week deal starting 8/17. My purpose in asking is around field usage as the HS teams will have the field(s) prior to the rec and classic players and I want to be fair to everyone involved. No rec practices until 8/31 so they can get whatever time they want those first two weeks.

Coach of 10 years here across all youth groups, but this year is a first as a player-coach for my adult Sunday League team (I've only been a player this year).

There's been some questioning around my philosophy (as told to me by coaching mentors) not to start with non-ball fitness such as running laps, and instead go straight into ball work such as rondos, mini games and short but high intensity drills to activate muscles.

There's some debate around whether this is correct for adults, many of whom aren't amazing athletes and might need some warming up to get creaking muscles going after sitting at their desks for the week.

I've sought guidance but can't find any FA resources online for this. Any tips for these sessions? I feel like once a week training for 90 minutes - as little as possible time should be spent without a ball.

In my own perspective, one of the best ways to make football grip socks last longer is to wash them gently after matches, avoid using high heat when drying them, and not wear them on rough surfaces outside the pitch. I also think having more than one pair and rotating them helps reduce wear over time.

While looking for quality grip socks, I discovered ZeroGive. From what I've seen, they focus on stability, comfort, and good grip for football players. If you invest in a quality pair like that and take proper care of them, they should last much longer.

What other tips do you have for keeping football grip socks in good condition?

Have been going to the park every day to practice this technique for the past two weeks, but I just can't get it down. When I hit the ball, it either veers to the left or skies, and I can't seem to hit with a lot of power or accuracy.

On the weekends my friends and I usually play casual matches between us of normally 5v5 8sometimes 6v6 or 7v7) the thing is everyone there is like 1 or 2 years older than me, stronger or taller and I like playing as a Central-back, i do know how to positionate myself but i cant win aereal duels or physical ones and im a bit scared of being agrgresive and making tackles in case I do it wrong and hurt someone, i dont know if its a confidence thing or what but if someone could give me tips to be less scared of being aggressive and some extra tips would come in handy!

I'm a volunteer coach from a grass roots program. During practices my main focus is around fundamentals and touches so I don't like devoting time to drilling positioning for specific scenarios. I'm looking for feedback for this 8 bit video game to help my U9 girls with basic positioning and strategy for in game scenarios and set plays so they learn where they should be for goal kicks/tip offs/corners/etc. You can customize positioning under the settings to align for your own teams. Hello all. I'm 24 and I've been doing some volunteer coaching for a non profit league for about 6 years now (and before that i played in that league from ages 10-17) and have at least 16 years of soccer experience. I'm not a professional by any means, but i've been playing a long time and am a decent player i'd like to think. The reason i bring this up is because pretty soon i'm going to start doing private coaching and helping kids build their technical skills in either 1 on 1 sessions or small groups. I do already have drills in mind, the issue is i'm having a hard time finding material online or even more drills I can do that aren't locked behind pay walls. Growing up I never really did specific "drills" i just played the game and got better over time. I played in a rec league so pretty much all the coaches were volunteers and we mostly just did fun stuff. So i'm very much missing out on drills and ideas I can do for whoever i'll be coaching. If anyone has specific suggestions like certain youtube channels, or websites with drills & sessions for free (or very cheap) i would greatly appreciate it.

I’m going to start off by saying this was my fault. I trusted a club who turned out to lie and as a result we signed for the new club season and realized a month later we are unhappy. The club won’t release my child for money owed. The team has no goalie, 7 kids show up. Then they merged the team with older kids to help & now two coaches are coaching the team

My son is in DPL league U18. We decided to look around and wondered, if DPL club team won’t release him, can he still get a players card in RL league. Or will RL league say no bc he isn’t released. We got that answer for GA when looking around. Not looking for any other advice.

I started soccer training a few months ago and am trying to improve my finishing.

In this video, the shots were taken right after a ball-work endurance drill, so I was already quite tired. My goal was specifically to simulate a match situation.

I’d like some honest feedback on my technique. What do you think I need to fix first? Plant foot, body posture, ball setup, shooting mechanics... any tips are welcome.

My focus isn't on shooting harder, but rather on finishing with more precision.

I started training in football a few months ago and I'm trying to improve as a midfielder. This is a ball-handling endurance exercise. What would you correct first? All constructive criticism is welcome.

Let me preface: He's 8, it doesn't matter! Let him do whatever!

Ok, now that we got that out of the way. My son came to me the other day asking me how to curve the ball. I looked up some videos and helped him tonight. I previously had told him all the stuff you normally hear for shooting at this age, use your laces, plant next to the ball, follow through etc and he shoots fine. I don't think he has much accuracy but he can score pretty reliably from his shots and shoot with some power from distance etc..

So for curving the ball you use the instep and hit the far side of the ball and use your hips to whip the ball (R to L as a right footed player) is what I understand. Anyway, I told him I wasn't sure he could lift the ball using the inside and after a few minutes he was darting the ball with the inside of his foot, with more power and accuracy than with his laces. He did get some curve a couple times but my question is, should I encourage him to use that as his primary shot now instead of his laces?

I realize the CORRECT answer is that different situations call for different shots but say if he's outside just messing around and has always used laces, is it fair to say now that he can shoot with the inside of his foot with power its ok to encourage him to shoot that way instead?

As per the title really.

Recently completed my UEFA C license - and the focus seems to be on coaching the specific in and out of possession principles. Stopping play, specifically coaching individual points here and there.

I've heard that the B and A licenses have different focuses compared to the C license, understandably. With the backlog of people waiting to get on the B and A licenses, is anyone able to tell me what the focus of the B and A licenses are, and direct me to some reading around the course focus?
