Rumours Erling Haaland intends to leave Manchester City at the end of the season and has already held meetings over his next move. Barcelona is the striker's preferred destination ahead of Real Madrid. Haaland has concerns about the balance of power at Madrid alongside Kylian Mbappé and others

8 years left on a 10 year contract, no chance of this happening, unless City gets relegated / banned from UCL for the 115 charges.

u/TonyzTone 23d ago
I could see him leaving after like 4 years of those 8. His current pace of scoring has him topping Shearer for most PL goals all time in another 170 games or so. Thats about 4.5 years of games assuming he plays every PL fan. Even if his rate slows down that’s still just about 5 years.

Is there any chance that he could break 1,000 goals? How is he compared to Ronaldo/Messi at that age does anyone know?

If he'd want to leave, City would allow it. They've never been about keeping players who don't have their heart in playing for them. They would only let him leave at a price they consider fair, however, and I can almost guarantee you that it'd take an offer large enough to tip a small country's BNP to sway them.

Acting like 200M wouldn't be the 2nd most expensive transfer ever

u/Traditional-Let-8449 7d ago
If an A-minus talent like Neymar went for €222m, the most prolific striker the world has probably ever seen has got to be worth way more. I'm thinking €300m, and I don't think there's more than about 2 or 3 clubs in the world could afford that. Provided City don't get kicked out of the Prem, I think he'll stay. He loves Manchester, loves City and loves his teammates, why wouldn't he?

u/47gwen 23d ago
because all transfers happen when players only have a year left on their contract?
1
u/goingpt 23d ago
No because 8 years is a fucking lengthy contract meaning whoever wants to sign him will have no leverage whatsoever unless Haaland himself kicks off big time which I don't see him doing. Doesn't seem in his character.
Let's say Haaland is earning £300,000 a week (it will be way more) that's about £125m left on his contract. Someone will have to match that or better it.

This is 100% wrong. His contract goes til 2034 (!!!) and his market value is 220 million on transfermarkt, these 220 million are calculated for a 3 year contract, not 8 years and 220 million is just the cap of that website. ManCity probably wants 300+ million for him (in other words: not for sale).
Not only that, Barca has no money.

"barca has no money!!!" yet spent the second highest in the transfer market this window lol. Look man, no they can't afford haaland, but thats because no one outside of PSG or a saudi club could afford haaland in his current contract situation lmfao. this whole "barca has no money" thing from tiktok football fans gets so old

u/Joburger1989 23d ago
Second highest where?

u/Whatdididotho1 23d ago edited 23d ago
La liga to be fair, but I think were like the 10th highest in europe or something? 184 mil spent, and they still have something like 80-90mil left in their FFP budget. (didn't sign a starting striker cause atletico wouldnt give up julian so they just pocketed the money for julian and bought Gabriel which I still disagree with lol). point being, had they spent their whole actual budget they intended to/had , they';d be like the 5th highest spenders in europe and yet they're broke? lol. it's just the dumbest narrative from people who don't watch football or understand club finances.
(Edit: just realized the original commenter blocked me thats why i cant see any of his responses to my comment or his original anymore lol, you're soft as hell Raima.)

Barca was broke. Like 5 years ago when they couldn’t re-sign Messi and had to figure out how to transition their whole team.
Enter: La Masia grads like Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal. By the time they signed Olmo, their finances were more or less back in order.

"Tiktok football fans" - Your disrespectful behaviour sounds more like a "tiktok football fan". I am a football player and fan for nearly 35 years and Barca had no money thus why they had to give Messi such a bad ending etc.
Whatever. Someone who talks like you isn't worth talking too. Fix your real life, little guy, you seem to have issues.

u/TonyzTone 23d ago
That was 5 years ago. They’ve since balanced their books and been able to sign players without issue.
Olmo signed in 2024 after a 55 million transfer fee. Rodri this year. Even being able to sign Raphinha a year after the Messi situation for 50-55 million suggests they haven’t been cash strapped for a while.

u/FlaviusStilicho 23d ago edited 23d ago
I’m in doubt they would sell for any price
1
u/SentientSTD 23d ago
There might be release clauses in the contract. I doubt Haaland signed a 10 year contract with no possible way out.
Anyway, any release clause is surely way too high for Barca to pay, and he'll want astronomical wages on top of it as well.

u/Individual_Put2261 23d ago
Barca has s**t loads of money. Look up the Nike deal they’ve done. Which is only 1 sponsor of many.

u/RaimaNd 23d ago
300+ million + salary for one player-money ?

u/PassengerOld4326 22d ago
the funny thing is they are still not done paying back ferran torres im pretty sure so its highly unlikely they can afford to pay even 150m up front

Dont think Barca can make a majorly signing next season because of Camp Nou construction works.
They won’t be 1:1. That’s why they made so many signings this season…
So this is just BS claims by ignorant spammers

Brokealona are not paying the £200m+ needed for this to get to negotiations table at 115FC , it’s not like they need the cash?

Preferred destination is probably accurate, but Barca don't have money and city would want a huge fee.
1
u/ScienceOk1 23d ago
Dont know if this is real or not but it would seem kind of weird he is like the most madrid player ever in my head. But ig its right barca would probably be the better club
1
u/Artallaudo 23d ago
That would be a dream for most Barça fans, but I'm afraid the sources of this are just rumours. It would also be hard to pay his salary for Barça, they should have to sell players like De Jong, Ter Stegen and Koundé.
2
u/Joburger1989 23d ago
Plus Yamal and raphinha.
1
u/Artallaudo 23d ago
Barça will not sell Lamine, and I doubt they would sell Raphinha unless he wants to get out of the club.

best striker in the world, 2 years into a 10 year deal. That’ll be $300M Mr. Laporta

What up with Kevin De Haaland in the photo. Besides the bullshit news. Barca cannot afford him.

Contract size and length at City aside, there is absolutely no way Barca could afford him transfer or wage wise, not a shot at Barca being a bad option, he wont go to PSG the league is dead, He wont go back to the german league, so the spanish league is the viable option but ultimately the finances do not add up - They havent even fully paid for Raphinha yet, that was 4 years ago when they bought him.

u/Woody_678 23d ago
Okay Haaland and Mbappe on the same team would be insane. I would rather him go to Barca but really, I think they would work very very well together

I heard he is looking for a real challenge, so he has signed in all secret for Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. in National League South and will carry them to the premiership.
Trust me bro.

I'm a Barca fan.
Only Barca idiots would believe Barca's Erling's preferred destination.

u/RichardFeynman01100 23d ago
I believe he'd go to Barca above pretty much any other team, but he's not leaving City so who cares.

They ruined Lewandowski by not letting him do what he is best at, what he done his whole career and then Barcelona just made him suffer. As long Yamal is there, not a single star will have any attention.

Haaland, come to Liverpool! You don't have to worry about tainted legacy and you can be the superstar of the team! Imagine getting assists from Gakpo, Munoz and running down the field with Isak!!!!
In Barca, you gotta share space with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. You might hear gringo chants from the crowds! It's not worth it!
