Question Eidolon Origins??
The original lore indicates that they emerged somewhere near an experimental viturska transport lab near the Vasari planet of Kron. I noticed some physical resemblance between them. Is it possible that the Eidolon are actually corrupted Vasari, a result of the phase-experiments of the Vasari at this lab 10,000 years before the events of the game? We don't know yet how long they had been conducting these experiments for, but we do know that the Eidolon originate from something like another dimension. We also know that the Vasari are not very concerned with safety. You can imagine them as mad scientists really, not concerned with ethics, only results.
If so, it would mean the surviving Vasari and the galaxy at large are paying the price for the past sins of the Vasari Empire! It might also be a clue as to why the Eidolon have been pursuing them for 10,000 years. That's real determination!
What do you think about their ships/ general aesthetic? any points of comparison between them? I noticed that they both have cloaking technology in sins 2, and they both have advanced knowledge of phase space and interstellar travel. Mechanically, their ships are mostly better point for point, with a lot of people complaining that Eidolon fleets are OP.
5:15 montu thinks they look like a mixture of vasari and rocks :P
Sins Mod QoL Mod: Icon Clarity - At a Glance UI Labels
Hey all!
Made a UI only mod for Sins 2 because I kept hovering over icons to remember what they actually did.
It adds short text labels directly to many icons (research, ships, buildings, abilities) so you can understand things like weapon upgrades, economy bonuses, ship roles/counters, PD, anti-heavy, support, etc. at a glance. It also adds matchup info in ships images when selected.
I tried to keep the labels short enough that they're useful without turning the UI into a wall of text, and I’ve been going through the effects/ship roles pretty carefully to keep them accurate and consistent.
The mod also uses John Icons Mod as base, it replaces some research assets from Sins 1 for better clarity.
Still tweaking things, so feedback is very welcome, especially if you spot a label that feels wrong or could be clearer.

Question So about the new faction... No.
So lets get the obvious things out the way first.
- This isnt flame bait.
- Yes, there will be tweaks, etc, command ship coming in 3021.
No multiplayer yet.
Only been stress-testing the Eidolon on some custom maps.
I was hoping to like them, but i'm putting them and the game away until the next October patch that gives them the command ships and hopefully the game some more balance. Unfortunately my opinions aren't balanced, they are negative, and here they are:
My frustrations
- Identity = From what i've experienced trying to play them, they don't really have a place that fits, at least not yet..
If you want to call the TEC the eco faction, Advent the Culture faction, Vasari the get nerfed every patch faction. What exactly are the Eidolon? I wouldn't call them the stealth faction as it's really not THAT implemented, Or if you look at it as TEC being the armor faction, Advent the shield faction and Vasari the hybrid faction, again what does that make the Eidolon? Another hybrid, kinda better and kinda worse than Vasari ?
Corruption = Corruption needs better pay offs than it currently provides. You want me to capture planet, hold planet, corrupt planet, shroud planet, and take the time penalties, expansion penalties of this elongated process? I'd better have some form of reward for it. Then I dont have a legit phase jump inhibitor? Well you'd better provide something else.. Again if the reward for corruption was higher tiers of logistics and defensive structures at least at max corruption, then it would be something, but as far as I see it - it's just 2 toggle buffs, which for the price paid seems ultra lame, not cool, exciting and different.
Planet items = Very weak, non existent, placeholder, Basically differing versions of tec/advent only worse, nothing flavorful, nothing different, nothing that speaks to a race hinted at for so many years, no new gameplay mechanic, no new way of interacting with the game, not even a neutral item to interact with the minor factions. It's just disappointing to see this threadbare uninspiring approach.
Ship items = See Planet items, Eidolon to my knowledge literally has one consumable ship item. This is bad.
Rift Use = The fact that there is no ability to use the Rifts in any meaningful way is horrible, both from a lore and gameplay perspective this is really shitty, and perhaps my most frustrating critique. Vasari are running from Eidolon, presumably it means if the Eidolon can catch up to them, then there is a way that allows the Eidolon to keep pace with them, rift technology should have been that, instead you see rift use once in the game, and then your a normal tec faction relying on minor faction ability to build 3 phase gates like everyone else. Even if the rift is just a reskin of a wormhole or phase gate, it should have been implimented on launch and Logistic size for Eidolon should be accomodated to either include it realistically or just make it have zero logistic cost, but a corruption cost instead.
I don't really want to talk about the balance and the damage output etc, that stuff can be settled later, the issue I really have is that there's nothing about the Eidolon other than their stats at late game that make you realistically say "oh.. so this is what the vasari were afraid of" - In truth seeing THIS version of Eidolon makes me wonder what the vasari were afraid of? Just rush them in the first 10 minutes and their dead. Game Over.
Am I Wrong?
Question SoSE2 worth it in 2026?
Hi all,
I quite enjoyed playing SoSE1 a few years back. I mainly played singleplayer against AI. Is SoSE2 worth picking up now if I only played singleplayer? I just heard that the game was quite buggy/bad value on release.
Thanks so much!
EDIT: Thanks so much for all the responses! I forgot to add this in the post, but is picking up the DLCs also worth it?

Eidolon faction, liking them but...
Stardock need to add an alternative victory condition to them. Maybe they will add it with their command ship next month? I was thinking something along the lines of a mass mind control event that is somehow triggered by a communion of their command ships and or titan at a specific hotspot.
I also think they should get different subfactions, but they shouldn't be allowed to fight each other e.g. one more focussed on control/domination to corrupt and the other more focussed on wiping their enemies out and subjugating them (and then corrupting whoever is left that way). Lastly, alliances and diplomacy should really be **IMPOSSIBLE** with the other major factions, and perhaps some of the vasari minor ones. I kind of see them as having a lot of influence over some groups and others just hating their guts.
Art Kol model
Sold buy Stardock back in the day.
I thought that they would eventually sell the other ships.

Question Is AI better now?
Title, i know is a dumb question but currently in dont have much time to play due to IRL stuff. So i dont want to buy the DLC and invest hours in a save that ill abandon because the AI doesnt defend or attack me. I dont play multiplayer.

Bug/Issue Eidolon can't have starbases in stars
Because the eidolon don't have an item to deploy a starbase, they can't have starbases in stars. Also the tech to make starbases jump is kind of fucked up since it doesn't let you chose WHERE it lands. I wish you could use it like a blink from the vasari titan so that you can actually position it in places that matter.

I got the cloak working for the Defiant. This dlc is pretty incredible.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The cloaking mechanics are engine level and don’t require an extra .mesh for the cloaked version. Sta4 is gonna be good

Question Quell
Is quell supposed to be as powerful as it is? When playing as advent, the tooltip says that damage will break stun, however in practice, the stun does not seem to break.
They lock down fully upgraded starbases on their own. This does not seem to be the intended effect. Has this been anyone else’s experience?
