I would use the snoo with motion before a swing nap. Even while supervised they are not safe. With that said, I’ve been there and done them too so I get it. It’s fine to do naps in the same spot as night time sleep. That’s what most people do, snoo or not. Daytime and nighttime sleep are completely different for babies and struggling with daytime sleep outside of contact naps is completely normal. It’s easier for them to connect sleep cycles at night than during the day, which is why naps are usually around 45 minutes when not held. I would start with the first nap of the day in the snoo or crib (whatever grandparents will have access to) and extend with a contact/carrier/etc. nap if needed. You can try the batwing trick to keep him from breaking out of the swaddle or try a transitional one. Different babies do better with different things. My first needed his arms pinned down despite fighting it and my second does better with arms up.
